  The Stanford Department of Radiation Oncology’s mission is to create and deliver the most innovative, equitable, environmentally sustainable, personalized care and education through compassion, cutting edge technology and transformative research. The department is seeking a Biostatistician 1 (50% FTE, 1-Year Fixed-Term) to be with some independence, consult with investigators to refine research questions, define hypotheses, design studies and devise analysis plans. They will work with faculty to implement analysis plan and publish findings. The biostatistician will present results orally to clinical investigators and provide guidance on study design and analysis issues. This is a fixed term position for 8 months.

  Of specific importance is previous work using survival analysis, and expertise in processing “messy” data. The biostatistician will also ideally have previous consulting experience, where they are responsible for explaining statistical concepts and methodology to a non-statistician audience.

  Our interdisciplinary team includes clinical and research faculty with broad levels of research expertise within the context of radiation oncology care delivery and practice. This individual will join a team with direct access to clinical resources, clinical datasets, and data generated from cutting-edge research in translational medicine to create new analyses and visualizations as we empower data-driven clinical care.

  Duties include:

  Develop and implement protocol for quality control.

  Create analytic files with detailed documentation.

  Implement data analysis through statistical programming.

  Present results for investigators using graphs and tables.

  Summarize findings orally and in written form.

  Participate in the preparation of papers for publication.

  Work with and educate trainees (pre-medical students, medical students, residents) in areas of research design and analysis

  DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  Previous experience with survival analysis and competing risks.

  Prior work as a statistical consultant.

  EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):

  Master's degree in biostatistics, statistics or related field.

  KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED):

  Proficient in at least two of R, SAS, SPSS, or STATA.

  Skills in descriptive analysis, modeling of data, and graphic interfaces.

  Outstanding ability to communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:

  Frequently perform desk based computer tasks, seated work and use light/ fine grasping.

  Occasionally stand, walk, and write by hand, lift, carry, push pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.

  This remote role is open to candidates anywhere in the United States. Stanford University hasfive Regional Pay Structures. The compensation for this position will be based on the location of the successful candidate. The expected pay range for this position is $77,000 to $109,000 per annum. The actual pay will be pro-rated based on the 50% FTE.

  Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location, and external market pay for comparable jobs.
