POSITION SUMMARY:
The Associate Language Instructor supports the SOFTS program by providing foreign language instruction in listening, reading, writing, and speaking skills as well as regional and culture subjects.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide foreign language instruction in listening, reading, writing, and speaking skills as well as regional and cultural subjectsIntegrate technology in classroom instruction and homework, such as Smart Boards, BlackBoard, RapidRote, and SharePointDevelop learning materials as requiredUtilize computer skills to organize data and teaching materialsUse communicative, learner-centered, and task-based LREC teaching strategies for adult learnersDevelop lesson plans and integrate integrating different learning platforms into curriculumInstall and enable foreign fonts as needed to use in instructional materialsOther duties as assignedQUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIRED:
At least ILR Level 2 as measured by DoD testA score of at least 553 on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) PBT, or TOEFL iBT score of at least 83 overall and at least 20 each in Reading, Listening, Speaking, and WritingA score of at least 82 on the English Comprehension Level (ECL) testAt least a proficiency level 2 or Advanced-Low (ACTFL) on an Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI)Must meet target language qualifications: Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI) or 2-skill OPI from the DLIFLC; an interview certified by the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL); satisfactory completion of Defense Language Proficiency TestCompetency in classroom management, developing lesson plans, integrating integrating different learning platforms into curriculum, and using supplemental materialsSuccessful completion of a minimum of 40 hours of training in online language teachingExcellent English and foreign language skills -- both oral and writtenExperience using MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) and common media players (e.g. Windows Media Player, Real Player, SMART Boards, etc.) as they relate to modern LREC instruction.Due to contract requirements employees working on this project must be United States citizens or permanent residents.Instructors need to be available various hours and days to include nights and weekends.
Hourly rate of pay: $29.35
The job duties for this position can be performed remotely, however due business requirements candidates located in CA, CO, CT, FL, GA, IL, KY, MD, NC, NM, TN, TX, VA and WA are preferred.
Physical and Environmental Requirements:
