In this varied and dynamic role, you will be both product counsel to individual businesses and counsel to the privacy program that spans all of Amazon's WW operations. You will be an integral part of the business teams you support, advising on an array of privacy compliance processes, product development, business operations, regulatory initiatives, and helping clients to anticipate strategic legal, regulatory, and reputational risk.To do this, you will work closely with product and operations teams, privacy specialists, data security and privacy engineers, public policy, and legal teams around the world. The right candidate will have a track record of project management and compliance program ownership and driving risk management activities across a large organization.Key job responsibilities* Working with technical and non-technical stakeholders across business teams, engineering teams, and compliance teams - and across Amazon legal and public policy teams - to help build a privacy program that addresses both regulatory compliance and business needs across the Operations organization.* Advise on privacy matters and serve as a resource for business line lawyers supporting Operations teams,copiloting privacy reviews, the verification and improvement of data attestations and records of processing, the completion of privacy impact assessments, and the implementation of standard privacy and security-related contractual clauses.* Supporting continuous process improvement and simplification efforts benefiting our legal teams and the businesses we support, including developing and publishing privacy tenets, compliance standards, best practices, checklists, and self-service resources for the legal team and business partners.* Developing and delivering privacy trainings for legal team members and business partners.* Providing legal support to individual businesses within the last mile organization.We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:Arlington, VA, USA | Seattle, WA, USA* Juris Doctor (J.D.) and admitted to at least one state bar (or equivalent)* 2+ years of sophisticated legal experience* CIPP/E, CIPP/US, CIPP/A, CIPM or other privacy certification.* Experience synthesizing advice from outside counsel and subject matter experts across multiple countries.* Ability to work independently and demonstrate sound judgment in ambiguous situations.* Excellent communication, organizational, analytical, and computer skills.Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $105,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $195,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
