Summary of Position:
Sports Communication at Ferris is a dynamic, interdisciplinary program that works closely with the Ferris Athletic Department, which boasts nationally ranked D1 and D2 teams. The Sports Communication program offers three degree levels: Bachelor of Science, Minor and Certificate. The program is rooted and housed in the Communication discipline within the Department of Humanities, and it includes one of the following emphases: Social Media and Digital Communication, Multimedia Journalism, Integrated Marketing Techniques, or Event Management.As the Sports Communication "champion," the finalist will participate in recruitment activities, advise students, coordinate program-related activities, and collaborate with campus and community partners. The finalist will be expected to teach a 4-4 load of classes and direct internships or practicum/research projects. Required teaching assignments include Sports Communication and Seminar in Sports Communication (both project-based); and at least one of the core General Education Communication courses: Public Speaking, Interpersonal Communication, and/or Small Group Decision Making. The finalist could potentially also teach Intercultural Communication, Diversity and Communication, and other courses that they would be encouraged to develop within their area of expertise.Requirements for this position include: a minimum of master's degree in Communication, Sports Communicat
