Based in the Glen Allen, Virginia area, this exciting long-term opportunity is set in an engaging work place where hard work is rewarded. As Staff Accountant, you will be responsible for preparing monthly and year-end closings, journal entries, fixed asset maintenance, bank reconciliation, and general ledger reconciliation. This position will require a time commitment, since it produces Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. And during the monthly close, your responsibilities will also cover various aspects of internal reporting. You will also communicate with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, play an active role in compliance, and review schedules for the reporting processes.
Key responsibilities
Aid in implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
Be responsible for account reconciliations including prepaid expenses, payroll, and other assignments
Maintain monthly payment schedules
Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as needed
Prepare monthly balance sheet and income statement analyses for management reporting
Keep up fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation
Participate in various initiatives spanning multiple departments
Conduct month end close, journal entries, without supervision
Assist in monthly financial close workbook preparation, including annual closing process
Analyze and coordinate a variety of financial data, and report it in a useful and understandable manner
Requirements - Proven knowledge of journal entries
Foundational knowledge in cash reconciliations
Full Cycle Accounting experience
Bank reconciliations experience highly desired
Cloud ERP experience
Deep understanding of Microsoft Excel
High attention to detail
Working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases
Fully formed organizational, written and verbal communication skills
Proficient in ERP systems
Demonstrated analytical abilities, tendency to quickly connect dots and surmise logical outcomes
BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
Recent and relevant accounting experience
Spreadsheet and database capabilities
Ability to meet deadlines
Ability to work well in matrix organization and dealing with ambiguity
Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities
