  Job Description:

  JOB SUMMARY

  Directs all operations of Cattails Cottage and Cattails Place, which provide housing at no cost for cancer patients undergoing active outpatient cancer treatment, along with their caregivers. This position would also direct future set-up and operations for potential housing of non-cancer patients and families. Ensures all policies and procedures are followed. Supervises, schedules, and manages a team and volunteers to ensure the safe operation of Cattails Cottage/Place. Partners with area hospitals, clinics, and health systems in establishing and maintaining guest referrals. Collaborates with the MCHS Foundation to ensure financial and volunteer support of the facilities.

  Major Responsibilities

  Directs staff, volunteers, and vendors to deliver Cattails Cottage/Place services and provide guests access to cancer treatment in accordance with MCHS policy and protocols.

  Ensures all guest interactions and processes, including referrals, screening, check-in, orientation, stay, and check-out, strictly adhere to Cattails Cottage/Place policies.

  Establishes and maintains relationships with healthcare workers and referral sources, including conducting healthcare worker orientations and Cattails Cottage/Place promotion with referring partners.

  Works closely with Facilities Management staff and vendors to secure and maintain the Cattails properties, including the overall safety, maintenance, and cleanliness of the entire premises.

  Ensures timely and accurate reporting, including ensuring data is entered into applicable software and systems.

  Performs any and all necessary responsibilities in the absence of staff or volunteers and understands fulfilling this responsibility may require unplanned/unscheduled time at either location.

  Works in partnership with Volunteer Services on volunteer recruitment, training, retention, and utilization of volunteers appropriately to support Cattails Cottage/Place program delivery.

  Serves as the primary spokesperson for Cattails Cottage/Place, actively promotes community relations and awareness of activities, including tours for civic, community, and healthcare groups, and assists in any fundraising events that help support Cattails Cottage/Place. Attends MCHS Foundation events supporting Cattails Cottage/Place and collaborates with the MCHS Foundation on donor activities and tours.

  Identifies development opportunities with Cattails Cottage/Place guests and community leaders that interact with Cattails; assists with solicitation when appropriate.

  Helps coordinate meals with community organizations.

  Performs other duties as assigned.

  JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  Excellent communication, customer service, analytics, computer, and consulting skills. Strong relationship-building qualities that offer support and guidance to our patients and families. Ability to work independently and with minimum direction. Experience leading a team including part-time employees and/or volunteers. Remains calm even under highly stressful situations.

  Ability to lift and carry 25 pounds. Ability to move around to all areas of the 2 Cattails sites quickly and safely. Strong cleaning skills that include proper cleanup and disposal of bodily fluid spills and infectious waste. Ability to travel by vehicle as necessary. A valid driver's license and clean driving record is required. Availability on nights, weekends, and unusual hours as needed to ensure patients and families needs are met.

  EDUCATION

  For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.

  Minimum Required: Associate degree in business administration, healthcare administration, hotel/hospitality, or other related field.

  Preferred/Optional: Bachelor’s degree in business administration, healthcare administration, hotel/hospitality or other healthcare-related fields.

  EXPERIENCE

  Minimum of 3 years experience in business administration, non-profit management, public health, hotel/hospitality, social work, or a related field. Five years of progressively responsible professional experience with at least three years of direct staff supervision.
