Assistant Director of Career Services
Description
Reporting to the Director of Career and Military Services, the Assistant Director of Career Services is responsible for developing and facilitating a unique and innovative four-year program designed to equip students with the six HYPE CR® skills (values, work styles, job search skills, communication, collaboration, and conflict management) in order to close competency and skill gaps and give Heidelberg University students a distinct advantage in the job market upon graduation.
The U.S. Department of Education's Rural Postsecondary Economic Development Grant (Grant Award Number P116W220018, NCES ID# 203085, 84.116W Pathways to Rural Student Access and Success) will help cover this grant-funded position at Heidelberg University. The total grant awarded is $1,198,356.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Reports directly to the Director of Career and Military Services and receives peripheral and direct supervision from the Associate Vice President for Advancement, Alumni, and Community Relations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Continue to develop and refine the vision of HYPE CR® to deliver a unique experience resulting in students who are career ready.
Incorporate the HYPE CR® skill set of competencies through academic, co-curricular, and experiential learning engagements that are aligned with academic outcomes including but not limited to critical thinking, problem solving, and oral and written communication skills.
Develop and Implement HYPE Career Ready® improvement plan to strengthen the learning impact for Heidelberg students.
Provide oversight and support for career exploration and career development to further internship and networking opportunities and connect those career paths and programs to HYPE CR®.
Develop and manage the Third Year Common Experience designed to create opportunities, strengthen an environment that promotes future engagement, and achieve multiple HYPE CR® skills.
Plan, coordinate, and implement all aspects of HYPE CR® events, including but not limited to, internal and external presenters, campus set-ups, classroom sessions, session assessments, and attendance keeping.
Support student placement (career and internship) programs and activities by working collaboratively with alumni and businesses to identify potential sites for students; advertising employment and internship positions, and educating them on the employment processes
Coordinate advising of students in the HYPE CR® program through partnership with the Executive Director for Student Success and Owen Center advising staff.
Coordinate with the Registrar's office all aspects of recording keeping for HYPE CR® credits for graduation.
In coordination with Marketing & Communication Services, develop and implement informative campus communications which drive excitement and energy for HYPE CR® days.
Ensure compliance with federal and state laws related to student educational records (FERPA).
Serve on University committees as appropriate.
Other responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Career and Military Services.
