About AIR OPERATIONS OFFICER (PILOT/NAV)

  Summary This National Guard position is for a AIR OPERATIONS OFFICER (PILOT/NAV), Position Description Number D0307000 and is part of the NJ 108th OG, National Guard. Its paramount purpose is to plan, organize and supervise all unit flying operations programs required by Air Force, Major Command, and ANS regulations. n addition to supervisory responsibility, this position is a rated aircrew member on flying status involved in the piloting or navigation of unit-equipped (UE) aircraft. Responsibilities As a AIR OPERATIONS OFFICER (PILOT/NAV), GS-2101-14, you will: Plans work to be accomplished by the organization which consists of about 15 or more full-time subordinates engaged in technical and administrative work Oversees all unit operations activities, both in the air and on the ground, which based on unit mission and equipment, may include any of the following Air Operation6 program support functional areas: Training, Standardization and Evaluation, Tactics. Scheduling, Plans, Command Post, Intelligence, Life Support, Flying Operations and Flight Management Develops long-range training and deployment plans for the unit to meet training goals, higher headquarters Inspection schedules and overseas deployment requirements. Acts as a key advisor on the Commander's staff to coordinate unit flying operations with other ANG flying units and outside agencies, e.g. the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), civilian airport authorities, etc., and with unit maintenance resources and support areas Serves as the Operations representative on the Commander's Financial Management Board. Develops and directs the unit flying hour program in coordination with higher headquarters to meet approved higher headquarters flying hour allocations versees all unit flight and ground training of assigned/attached flying personnel. Reviews and recommends establishment for formal courses of instruction, training aids, training programs, training standards, directives and memoranda pertaining to training of the unit and its assigned and attached elements. Monitors the implementation of an effective division safety program for all flying operations and related ground activities. Develops division policy for flight management personnel to insure effective and efficient administrative control of all flight documentation and Individual flight records. Must pass standardization/evaluation flight examinations and meet annual flying requirements as prescribed by applicable regulations and directives Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership. CAT 1 All permanent, Title 32 Employees within the 108th ANG Clarification: This position is open all Air Members (Tech, AGR, M-day, Reserve, etc..) Must joint the NJ 108th NG, at the min Rank. This position is a AGR bring your own billet and control grade Title 32 Dual-Status Positions: Military Grade: Colonel/O-6 Applicant(s) (Enlisted) who are over grade must clearly state, in their resumes, their intentions to willingly take a reduction in grade Additional Employment Requirements: -Participation in direct deposit is mandatory -May be required to successfully complete a probationary period -Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service Must have TOP Security Clearance prior to start date of appointment (attach proof of clearance type) Qualifications GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education, or training interpreting, explaining, and/or applying a variety of regulations and procedures. Experience using computer and automation systems SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 36 months experience, education, or training arranging or procuring transportation for personnel, cargo or freight. Experience in non-routine pre and post auditing of freight bills, bills of lading, and personnel transportation vouchers. Experience coordinating and negotiating with organizations/personnel both orally and in writing to resolve differences/problems. Experience which included responsibility for the supervision and management of personnel. Experience in managing the function of the work to be performed. Experience which includes leading, directing and assigning work of personnel.. Education EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in fields listed below leading to a bachelor's degree, in an accredited college or university, meets the GS-5 level requirements. Education -Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- accounting, business administration, business or commercial law, commerce, economics, engineering, finance, industrial management, statistics, traffic management, transportation, motor mechanics, or other fields related to the position.
