  POSITION: Zamboni Driver/Operations

  DEPARTMENT: Operations

  REPORTS TO: Facility Manager

  FLSA STATUS: Hourly/Non-Exempt

  Summary

  The Zamboni driver is responsible for maintaining a quality ice surface through scheduled resurfacings and other assigned ice maintenance at 1st Summit Arena. In addition, the Zamboni driver is responsible for helping to maintain cleanliness of the ice rink. This position will provide customer service to facility guests.

  Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  Maintain facility schedule by following posted resurfacing times.

  Adhere to safety precautions while using the Zamboni.

  Supervise and monitor guests utilizing the facility.

  Enforce safety rules and regulations that ensure the facility operates in a safe manner.

  Maintain cleanliness of ice rink including dasher boards and glass.

  Assist in the opening/closing of the facility as needed.

  Provide customer service, share information, and solve problems with the public.

  Shovel and salt sidewalks and exits to maintain safe entrance and egress.

  Perform general physical labor associated with set up and break down for events i.e. setting table and chairs, etc.

  Complete all other duties as assigned by the facility manager.

  Qualifications

  To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   Education and/or Experience

  HS diploma/GED preferred.

  Valid driver’s license required.

  Prior experience driving a Zamboni machine preferred but not required.

  Prior experience sharpening skates is a plus.

  Previous facility operations experience a plus.

  Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  The candidate must be at least 18 years of age.

  Ability to work in cold air and outdoor environments.

  Ability to communicate in a courteous and professional manner.

  Ability to follow written and oral directions.

  Mechanical aptitude preferred.

  Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  A willingness to work flexible hours is required including nights, weekends, and holidays, in addition to normal business hours.

  Occasionally must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

  Regularly requires sitting, standing, walking, climbing, or balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching with hands and arms, pushing or pulling and lifting.

  Work requires close vision, distance vision, ability to adjust focus, depth perception and color perception.

  Requires wet and occasional humid conditions.
