This position exists to provide Career Services and CareerForce information to job seekers through orientations, group instruction, and one-on-one assistance, both over the phone and in-person, with a priority on serving Unemployment Insurance Applicants and Veterans; so job seekers are able to make informed career choices. The incumbent provides career guidance consulting and resources to job seekers in the service delivery area and/or reception desk and provides training on how to seek employment through Job Search classes, Resume Writing classes and other employment-related workshops. The incumbent will provide technical and information resources so that job seekers have access to information and tools to secure appropriate employment, and employers have access to tools and information to successfully recruit and retain employees. This position also helps businesses access services available to them.
Duties Include:
Provide Basic Career Services to career seekers either one-on-one, in groups, or virtually as defined in Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) and Wagner-Peyser regulations.
Organize and facilitate Creative Job Search, Resume Writing and other employment-related workshops so job seekers can identify career goals, write effective resumes and post them on MinnesotaWorks.net, understand and use the most effective job search techniques, and find a job that matches their skills and abilities.
Conduct training/orientation sessions and provide basic career services to Unemployment Insurance (UI) applicants in the Reemployment Services and Eligibility Assessment (RESEA) program and other UI special programs, Dislocated Workers, universal customers, and other special populations to provide them a basic understanding of careers, job search techniques, and services available through the CareerForce.
Answer questions from job seekers and businesses by phone or in person regarding CareerForce services.

Minimum Qualifications
To receive credit for your education and experience, your resume should clearly describe how you meet each minimum and/or preferred qualification listed, including dates of employment.
Professional and/or para-professional experience in career guidance, vocational counseling, job placement or similar functions such as human resources, social services, business management, marketing, adult education, or employee training.
Experience and/or education in conducting or facilitating classroom training for adults.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
Communication skills to connect career seekers to work force training opportunities to advance skills.
Customer service skills to convey complicated information in an understandable manner as an expert resource for outside agencies and individuals.
Skill in software programs such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.)
Ability to form and grow connections with community partners such as educational institutions, employers, and supportive services to assist career seekers in gaining employment.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor‘s Degree in Education, Social Work, Human Services, Counseling or other closely related field as determined by the agency.
Skill in a secondary language, facilitating clear communication with a diverse clientele.
Experience using CareerForceMN.com, Minnesotaworks.net, SharePoint, and Webex.
Experience conducting virtual workshops or trainings using online platforms (Microsoft Teams, Webex).
