Job Description
The US Benefits Manager will implement, manage, and support the overall health, welfare and leave benefit programs for the organization and develop processes and procedures to drive efficiencies and increase employee awareness and experience. This is a key role, leading a centralized Benefits support team servicing US employees across all businesses of Avery Dennison. The Benefits Manager will work closely with benefits vendors, the benefits center of excellence, and the governance committees for benefits plans and programs to evaluate/improve existing benefit offerings, while ensuring compliance with applicable legislation. Reporting to the Workforce Operations Americas Hub Leader, this individual will be a key leader within the US/Canada Workforce Operations team.
Key Details
Maintains, develops, recommends, and implements benefits-related objectives, policies, and procedures.
Support benefits operations and compliance of a multi-state benefits program.
Manage vendor relationships to ensure high-level service provided for key benefit programs, including plan requirements, audit and compliance.
Key support and sponsor of the annual benefits enrollment process, including key operational activities to execute and administer changes.
Support and analyze benefits due diligence tied to MA opportunities and support related integration activities.
Leads benefits team who serve as the primary point of contact to support employees, colleagues, vendors, and other key stakeholders on a day to day basis with benefit questions and concerns.
Provide ongoing performance and development feedback and support to benefits specialists.
Collaborate with internal partners such as payroll, EHS, nurses, legal etc to create efficient processes.
Respond to escalated inquiries and service needs (involving carriers, vendors, employees, and others) to ensure quick, equitable and courteous resolution.
Develops recommended approach and streamlined process for documenting, communicating and supporting benefit programs, including the workflows and data administration process.
Works with vendors in root cause analysis for issues to prevent future occurrences of such issues and ensure smooth benefit plan operation.
Use data and analytics to identify areas of greatest opportunity for the Benefits support team to focus and improve.
Develops and pursues new processes for improvement in areas of Benefits support and leads and executes the related projects.
Assists with evaluating effectiveness of current programs/plans and makes recommendations regarding improvements or changes to better align with industry best practices or company objectives.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Skills Capabilities
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to clearly and accurately articulate benefit-related information both verbally and in written form. This includes translating insurance and medical industry terminology in a manner that is relatable and friendly to employees. Thorough understanding of human resources benefits and LOA principles, practices, and procedures.
Must be able to create thoughtful, informative presentations/updates that are data driven
Thorough understanding of human resources benefits and rewards principles, practices, and procedures.
Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive and confidential data, as well as knowledge of regulations applicable to the data being handled.
Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with employees, functional leaders, and other stakeholders.
Ability to lead, performance manage and develop a team
Working understanding of statistical concepts and methods of data collection.
Strong value for applicable benefit plan regulatory and governing laws to ensure strict plan adherence to remain in compliance.
High level of integrity and compassion in alignment with corporate values to “do the right thing” for constituents within plan and program guidelines.
Requirements and Prior Experience
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field required; Master’s in Labor and Human Resources a plus
8-10+ years of Benefits-related experience required.
The role may require travel to various manufacturing sites across the US
Additional Information
The salary range for this position is $132,150 - $176,200 / year.
The hiring base salary range above represents what Avery Dennison reasonably expects to pay for this position as of the date of this posting. Actual salaries will vary within the range, and in some circumstances may be above or below the range, based on various factors including but not limited to a candidate’s relevant skills, experience, education and training, and location, as well as the job scope and complexity, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel required for the position, which may change depending on the candidate pool.
