Job Description

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is seeking a Work Group Leader (WGL) who will directly support the Boiler Operations and Weight Handling Maintenace unit along with supplementary support of other Operations and Maintenance (OM) units as needed.  In addition, the WGL will lead the activities of workers engaged in OM activities including but not limited to corrective and preventative maintenance of site critical and non-critical systems.  This includes over 90 United Steelworker (USW) Operation and Maintenance personnel (OM). The WGL may also supervise radiological work in the role of a Production Contamination Supervisor along with leading excavations, confined space entries and elevated work activities.  Lastly the WGL will play an integral role in scheduling, material coordination and facilitating work through coordination with engineering, safety and construction. Interested, apply today!More about the role:Responsible for the efficient execution of work including corrective and preventative maintenance of site infrastructure by leading work crews.Ensuring work is completed in accordance with all safety and health related aspects to protect the workers.WGL is to qualify for and maintain knowledge of all aspects of OM work including but not limited to industrial hygiene, waste, safety and health requirements.WGL may oversee high risk work activities, production radiological controls supervisor, confined space, excavation tasks, etc.Assists OM supervisors and managers with coordinating daily activities of workers engaged in corrective and preventive maintenance, trouble calls, construction support, and installation and repair of structures and equipment.Responsible for coordination between outside engineering and safety organizations to ensure work is ready to be executed and all stakeholders are aligned.Responsible for following scheduled tasks and working to priorities.WGL would also assist when emergent issues are encountered to verify planned and unplanned work can continue.Assists supervisors and managers with specific OM material needs/storage, purchasing, inventory and stocking.WGL will also conduct interactive crew briefings and training as appropriate to ensure the workforce is ready and equipment with the proper training, instructions and equipment to perform tasks.Other responsibilities may be assigned.

Required Combination of Knowledge and SkillHigh school diploma or equivalent.

10 years of working in an industrial settings, with a focus on site infrastructure.5 years applicable craft experience (HVAC, Electrical, Carpentry, Metal Trades etc)5 years of safety experienceExperience in a dynamic leadership role

Pay Range$92,900.00 - $145,200.00 annuallySalary information provided is a general guide line only. Kesselring Site, and Naval Reactors Facility, and at the U.S. Department of Defense-owned Nuclear Power Training Unit-Charleston. FMP employees also have an established presence at numerous shipyards and vendor locations. For nearly 70 years, the Naval Nuclear Laboratory has developed advanced nuclear propulsion technology, provided technical support, and trained world-class nuclear operators to ensure the safe and reliable operation of our nation's submarine and aircraft carrier Fleets. The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is a national asset solely dedicated to the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program. We rely on the dedication and innovation of our nearly 8000 engineers, scientists, technicians, and support personnel.
