Wovens Designer, Womenswear (New York City) Create original designs for company’s line of contemporary women’s ready-to-wear woven tops, dresses and Jackets, interpreting company’s design concepts into working sketches and detailed design drawings for sample patternmakers to fashion into garments. Write design specifications, select appropriate fabrics and trim, and develop colors for each season’s styles. Review specifications of sample garments, making changes or modifications to achieve a desired effect. Manage and oversee color development for seasonal styles. Conduct new trim sourcing and embellishment/fabric manipulation development each season. Fit product samples from concept stage to showroom garments and communicate fit corrections to factories. Work with overseas and local factories to communicate garment construction and design details. Position requires a bachelor’s degree in fashion design and two years of experience in the job offered or two years as an associate designer of women’s woven apparel including dresses, tops and jackets.
