The Department of Medicine's Division of General, Geriatric, Palliative, and Hospital Medicine at the University of Virginia seeks candidates for the Section Head of General Medicine position.

　　This open-rank, open-track leadership position will encompass operational oversight of clinical care, medical education, and outcomes-based research. Clinical responsibilities will include direct patient and/or precepting sessions in an outpatient clinical setting as well as attending on the general medicine inpatient service if desired. Rank and tenure status will be dependent upon qualifications.

　　The Section of General Medicine comprises 34 MDs and 9 APPs dedicated to high-quality patient care, student and resident education, advancing clinical care processes, and engagement with the UVA Health System in service to our community. The Section's outpatient practices consist of five clinical locations, delivering over 50,000 patient visits annually. University Medical Associates, the largest of these clinics, serves as the continuity training site for all 100 medicine residents.

　　Candidates must be an MD and board-certified in Internal Medicine, a mid to senior-level experienced academician with strong clinical skills, and a highly successful teaching track record. Leadership and administrative experience is also highly desired, as is a demonstrated history of funded research.
