[Under the supervision of the Water and Wastewater Superintendent, this employee provides leadership for construction work crews, plans and directs water and wastewater service installations and repair procedures, operates heavy equipment such as backhoes, dozers, track hoes and dump trucks, installs and repairs service mains, installs and services water hydrants, landscapes service and project areas, installs water and sewer service connections, uses approved chemicals to treat water, maintains and troubleshoots service pumps, maintains water service wells and associated buildings, maintains service vehicles and equipment, and welding operations on a variety of materials. The employee ensures that proper safety procedures and practices are followed at work sites by all subordinate employees. This employee trains new Water Service Technician staff in all aspects of their job and trains all Water and Sewer employees seeking Class A Commercial Drivers License (CDL).
