　　Water and Wastewater Design Engineer III/IV

　　Relocation assistance is available for this job to assist with moving-related expenses to relocate to Colorado Springs.

　　Colorado Springs Utilities' Water and Wastewater Vertical Design group is seeking an Engineer (at the III or IV level) to oversee and support the design for vertical projects, including water and wastewater treatment plants, pump and lift stations, tanks, and specialty valving. You will have the opportunity to work on location for these projects and in collaboration with experts across operations, planning, permitting, and construction. The diversity of our water system provides our engineers with intellectually challenging and rewarding work. Key highlights of our system include:

　　2,500 miles of potable water pipelines and 200 miles of raw water piping

　　Six water treatment plants; 20+ wastewater lift stations; and three water resource recovery facilities

　　Three raw water pump stations and three hydroelectric generation plants

　　10,000 monitor points, 250 control valves, and 20 pressure monitor sites with 40+ pressure zones

　　Please note that this position will be filled at the Engineer III ($94,099 to $117,624) or Engineer IV ($113,859 to $142,314) level based on the expertise of the successful candidate.

　　A day in the life of an Engineer in our Water and Wastewater Vertical Design group may include:

　　Overseeing all aspects of internal and outsourced design projects (commensurate with expertise) for finished water, non-potable water, raw water, and wastewater systems

　　This includes developing basis of design reports; 30-60-90 percent design drawing sets; engineering calculations and cost estimates; permitting and land acquisition plans; construction specifications; design QC reviews; SOP developments; startup and commissioning; and providing construction oversight

　　Leading quality control activities and constructability reviews for internal and external design projects

　　Collaborating with project stakeholders to ensure technical quality

　　Managing technical requirements for project permitting

　　Creating, reviewing, and approving engineering estimates and project schedules

　　Attending factory testing and approving materials and equipment

　　Overseeing the startup and commissioning of equipment

　　Who You Are

　　Demonstrated water and wastewater engineering design experience and expertise - typically five years at an Engineer III level and seven years at an Engineer IV level

　　Knowledge of a combination of civil, geotechnical, landscape architecture, architectural, structural, mechanical, process mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation and control system competencies in water and wastewater systems

　　Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline

　　Possession of a Colorado Professional Engineering (PE) license, or the ability to obtain within six months of hire

　　Possession of a valid, non-restricted driver's license is required

　　Previous experience with leading and/or mentoring junior engineers is valued at an Engineer IV level
