Waste Acceptance Specialist

System One is currently seeking a Waste Acceptance Specialist on a direct hire position located in Andrews, TX.
Acceptance Specialist Responsibilities:
Daily review of all shipping paperwork to ensure compliance with DOT, IATA and NRC requirements for safe transport of all waste in certified containers.
Implements and tracks all shipment discrepancies and inadequacies while working closely with other departments on resolutions.
Acts as mediator and facilitator between customers and inventory shipments
Coordinates daily activities relating to the characterization and transportation of radioactive/mixed waste and hazardous/non-hazardous waste to and from the facility.
Coordinates daily activities with operations on receiving waste via rail and trucks for the TSDF, CWF and FWF facilities.
Review of radiological surveys for compliance of all shipments. Conducts a daily review of scheduled loads into and out of the facility.
Documents all outgoing container movement via BOL’s.
Initiates all internal tracking forms.
Performs calculations to verify Radioactive Shipment classifications and internal resolutions after data verifications performed.
Assists operations in ensuring inventory stays in compliance with all federal and state permits, licenses, and regulations.
Performs classification for proper shipping, labeling and communications of all Lab samples being shipped per IATA regulations.
Assists with yearly, quarterly and monthly audits.
Coordinates with operations for timely processing and turn-around of incoming trucks and rail.
Apply and reinforce the skills learned through human performance training to prevent personal errors and errors by other team members.
Acceptance Specialist Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree (B.S) preferred, two years environmental waste experience a plus, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating, and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers, or employees of the organization.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
To perform this job successfully. An individual should have knowledge of Development software; Internet software; Project Management software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
Demonstrated knowledge or ability in the following areas; Resource Conservation and Recovery Act(RCRA); Department of Transportation(DOT); Texas Commission on Environmental Quality(TCEQ); Texas Administration Code(TAC); Understanding of Federal, State and Facility policies and regulations.
