The Role

The Vice President of Solution Architecture and Engineering Technology Solutions leads the organization that architects and designs customer solutions that drive new sales and existing customer revenue growth aligned with the efforts of the North American Enterprise Sales and Customer Success organizations for Large and Medium Enterprise, Industry Verticals, Public Sector and the Indirect Channel. This role will lead a very large team of people across North America through the ongoing evolution of skills and behaviors necessary to help our customers digital transformation.

This leader will be accountable for achieving the sales and revenue goals of both the President of North America Enterprise Sales and Public Sector and the North American responsibilities of the President of North America Customer Success and International.

This leader will lead an organization that operates in a tightly integrated and highly productive fashion with our Sales and Customer Success professionals. Lumen’s evolution from a networking company into a technology company will require a transformation of the roles in the Technology Solutions organization and the skills of the people in those roles.

The roles and skills required in the organization include transformational enterprise IT architecture planning and consulting, solution design, complex engineering, the ability to educate customers and Lumen employees, the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences, and expertise in Lumen’s tools and processes.

This organization will be foremost in establishing Lumen as a technology company and strategic business partner in the eyes of customers and prospective customers by consistently presenting Lumen’s capabilities as an integrated platform for next generation applications, the data that powers them and the value they provide to the customers of Lumen’s customers.

This individual must strategically allocate resources across multiple functions, geographies and routes to market to provide the highest revenue growth for Lumen from new and existing customers. Included in this will be the establishment of performance goals for the organization, metrics to measure performance against these goals and a methodology to drive accountability across the organization.

With a strong executive presence and polished demeanor, the leader will have an unparalleled expertise in ultimate problem solving. The role will evangelize and be accountable to position Lumen services in the market to create greater customer credibility and will be looked upon to act as a thought leader for the company.

The Main Responsibilities

Programmatic Approach to the Business:

Execute on a clear and repeatable go-to-market vision and value proposition.

Build a rock-solid and impactful execution engine that creates solutions for customers that drives realization of business goals, driving long-term results and positive outcomes for those customers and Lumen.

Drive the “Lumen” brand awareness as a Global Leader in the technology space.

Move with agility and pivot when necessary in all selling environments.

Identify new client requirements and communicate them to specified product leaders.

Maintain and retain high performing teams

Build, lead, inspire and motivate a diverse team; ensure that the team members have the knowledge, skills, and developmental plans to overachieve in their assigned roles.

Allocate resources for optimal revenue growth

Identify and implement changes to improve and ensure client satisfaction.

Manage and encourage diversity in skills and capabilities.

Ensure effective communications within the Sales and Customer Success teams, and with all key stakeholders within the wider organization.

Predictable Growth:

Implement a data-driven, quantitative approach for consistency in growing the business.

Develop and implement sales strategies and the associated cadence required to overachieve net new monthly recurring revenue targets from existing and newly created segments.

Stimulate profitable revenue growth through acquisition of new business from existing customers and new prospects.

Develop business plans and strategies to position products and packaged solutions to targeted segments.

Identify potential service delivery, operations, and product performance issues early and cross-functionally drive change to realize benefits of those changes.

Customer Success:

Focus on developing executive level client relationships through all facets of the client engagement cycle, from qualification and negotiations through the entire customer journey.

Maintain executive contact with clients, focusing on the establishment and ongoing development of long-term relationships.

Analyze monthly performance of sales funnel, revenue, and other key operating performance indicators.

What We Look For in a Candidate

Technology Business Solution Development and Execution Knowledge in the areas of Adaptative Networking, Edge Cloud and IT Agility, SASE, Security Consulting, NaaS, ExtaSwitch.

Bachelor’s degree, or higher or equivalent years of related experience

Ability to assess client business issues, requirements and budget constraints and prescribe solutions.

Comfortable working at the C- and board-level externally and internally.

Track record of successfully leading a very large team.

Ten plus years’ experience in a customer facing leadership role with experience in global technology, engineering

Compensation

The Starting base salary for this role differs based upon the employees' primary work location. Employees typically do not start at the top of the range. Compensation depends on each individuals qualifications. This listing is for base salary only and does not include other possible incentives.

Location Based Salary Ranges:

$260,070 - $346,750 in these states: AR ID KY LA ME MS NE SC SD

$273,750 - $365,000 in these states: AL AZ FL GA IA IN KS MO MT ND NM OH OK PA TN UT VT WI WV WY

$287,440- $383,250 in these states: CO HI MI MN NC NH NV OR RI

$301,130 - $401,500 in these states: AK CA CT DC DE IL MA MD NJ NY TX VA WA

This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.

This position is eligible for either short-term incentives or sales compensation. Director and VP positions also are eligible for long-term incentive.
