  About the MAIDP Program

  The International Disaster Psychology (IDP) Program: Trauma and GlobalMental Health (IDP) is a 2 -year master's Program within GSPP developedin 2005. In addition to providing master's level training in generalclinical psychology, the program meets a clear need for specializedknowledge and experience to work in the trauma, disaster and global mentalheal

  In our training program, students receive intensive academic coursework andsupervised training in providing mental health services within the Trauma andDisaster Recovery Clinic (TDRC) Cs well as in domestic and internationalfield-placements. Supervised experiences also include training and consultingwith agencies, developing emergency preparedness and response plans, andmonitoring and evaluating psychosocial interventions domestically and abroad.Our 2-year curriculum and practicum experiences help students develop abackground in global mental health, a field focusing on methods forincreasing mental health workforces in low-resource communities, addressingstigma regarding mental illness and mental health care, and expanding beyondWestern treatment models.

  As part of our training model, MAIDP offers a broad range of confidentialand evidence-based mental health care to the Denver community through theTDRC. The TDRC was established in 2015 and houses a specialized project thatserves Survivors of Torture (SoT) connected to a grant funded initiativein partnership with the International Rescue Committee. The TDRC providespsychological support to individuals and communities who have experiencedstress, adversity, and/or trauma. We use an integrative, need andstrengths-based approach that s culturally informed. Faculty members withinthe IDP Program supervise students in the TDRC.   Position Summary

  We seek a faculty member for a part-time, 10-month, benefited, visitingclinical faculty position for the MAIDP program. This faculty member will haveduties in teaching, including advising and clinical supervision, appliedresearch and scholarly productivity, and service. There may be opportunitiesto add administrative appointments to the job description, which would comewith a renegotiation of the job duties and workload.

  Part-time visiting faculty are typically expected to teach 4-5 courses (13.5credit hours) across fall, winter, and spring quarters, with releasespossible for administrative or grant-related duties. We anticipate thisfaculty teaching 2-3 traditional academic or content courses and providingyear-round supervision that would count for 3 courses. The individual in thisposition will be a valued member of our collaborative clinical supervisiongroup and may provide both individual and group supervision in interventionand assessment. Supervision experience and strong familiarity withevidence-based therapeutic approaches is essential. Clinical supervisors areexpected to meet weekly with trainees for didactics and case-specificsupervision (individual and/or group supervision), watch videos ofclient sessions, oversee clinical administrative tasks, and ensurecompliance with ethical and legal statutes.

  Scholarly duties may include conducting applied sponsored projects,mentoring/supervising student participation on projects, and producingscholarly outputs. All externally funded projects/research will be factoredinto workload and pay through course buyouts and/or non-teaching overloads(i.e., summer compensation).
