General Information
The Department of Finance and Business Law in the College of Business at James Madison University (
JMU) invites applications for a one-year visiting Assistant Professor position in Finance. The appointment begins fall 2024. This is a full-time benefit-eligible position.About the Department: The Finance and Business Law Department is staffed by 17 full-time faculty with 14 faculty in finance and 3 in Business Law. The department serves both Finance and Quantitative Finance majors and college business law courses.
FIN and
BLAW faculty have received numerous awards and recognitions for outstanding teaching, service, and research. James Madison University subscribes to both the Standard and Poor's Compustat, the University of Chicago's Center for Research in Securities Prices (
CRSP) and
NYSE
TAQ databases through
WRDS, and students and faculty have access to Bloomberg through the Gaglioti Capital Markets Laboratory. Interdisciplinary and applied research is encouraged.

Duties and Responsibilities
Teaching needs include corporate finance, Investments, and/or electives such as Real Estate Finance and Financial Data Science. The normal teaching load will be 4/4, i.e., four 3-credit courses each semester during the regular academic year.
Qualifications
Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Finance (or
ABD in a Ph.D. program in Finance with a dissertation defense by December 2024) from an
AACSB-accredited institution, and have the potential for collaborating on scholarly research. Applicants with classroom experience are preferred.
