Job Summary
The primary responsibility of the Video Specialist/Editor is reviewingaudio and visual footage and using computer software tools to organizeclips into a cohesive unit. Their duties include splitting or combiningvideo clips, adding appropriate sounds and graphics, while following allpost-production procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
A Video Editor is tasked with taking the raw footage shot by productionteam and turning it into the final product. This means following anoutline, script or shot list and assembling the footage into onecohesive video or film. Often in video and film work, there are manycamera angles and takes recorded. The Video Editor will work with thedirector producer to review all the footage to create the best output bycutting and connecting various footage, adding sound effects andgraphics and fine-tuning the completed video or film.
Some examples but not limited to tasks the Video Editor will need toperform include:
Assembling raw and DIY footage and transferring or uploading to acomputerFollowing a script, screenplay or outlineInputting sound to enhance footage, which may include selectingmusic and adding voice-oversCreating still and motion graphics e.g., After EffectsColor grading and correction of footage.Working closely with producer / director to produce a final productfor clientContinuously discover and implement new editing technologies andindustry\'s best practices to maximize efficiency.Education and/or Experience
3 to 5 years of proven work experience as a professional videoeditorProve experience with excellent skills sets in digital technologyand editing software packages (e.g., Adobe creative cloud suite,Premiere Pro, After Effects, Illustrator Photoshop, Microsoftoffice).Demonstrable video editing ability with a strong portfolio / reelFamiliarity with special effects, 3D and compositingMust be a great communicatorWorks well in a team environmentWilling to broaden skill sets in other parts of video productionWorking Environment
