job summary:
Tatum by Randstad is recruiting for an experienced Vice President of Finance & Accounting to join an established timeshare/vacation ownership company to oversee its financial activities, direct the preparation of the current financial reports, summaries, forecasts and is a proven leader who has expert communication and presentation skills.
Responsibilities include:
Strategy, Planning, and Management
Participate in pivotal decisions as they relate to strategic initiatives and operations models.
Coordinate planning and establish priorities for the planning process.
Collaborate with other leaders and department heads to monitor each department and make recommendations.
Communicate, engage and interact with the executive leadership team.
Review and analyze monthly financial results and provide recommendations.Identify, develop and execute analysis of business initiatives. Identify areas inneed of reorganization or restructuring.
Financial Analysis, Budgeting and Forecasting
Ensure timeliness and accuracy of financial and management reporting data for the operators of the company leadership, as well as ensure timeliness and accuracy of internally prepare annual financial statements for external auditors.
Assess and evaluate financial performance of organization with regard to short and long-term operational goals, budgets and forecasts.
Develop, create, and establish both monthly and annual financial budgets and maintenance fees that align with the company's plan for growth and expansion and align with respective needs of supported community and owners' associations.
Utilize forward-looking models and activity-based analyses to provide financial insight into the organization's plans and operating budgets.
Compares revenue projections to actual figures and budgeted expenses to actual expenses; makes or oversees any necessary adjustments to future projections and budgets.
Identifies opportunities for maximizing revenue and containing costs.
Accounting, General Ledger, Administration and Operations
Reviews planning process and suggests improvements to current methods.
Implement systems and software to provide critical financial and operational information.
Evaluate departments and make suggestions for automating processes and increasing working efficiency.
Oversee and support the accounting department to ensure the proper function and use of all systems, databases and financial software.
Review on an ongoing basis month-end close procedures to eliminate inefficiencies.
Financial Management
Provide leadership, guidance and support for financial compliance and adherence of management agreements for community and property owners' associations.
Oversee audit functions; select and engage consultants and auditors as necessary.
Review and ensure application of strong internal controls and financial procedure. Ensure proper controls are in place to mitigate risks for the organization.
Oversee Risk Management and work directly with insurance brokers to maintain and update insurance policies.
Finance and Accounting Team Management
Oversees Finance & Accounting department; Recruit, interview and hire finance, accounting and payroll staff as required.
Responsible for Collections Department and related processes; supervisory responsibility for the Collections Manager
Mentor and develop the accounting and finance team managing work allocation, systems training, performance evaluations, and the building of an effective and efficient team dynamic.
Cash Management
Manage banking relationships; develop and maintain financing opportunities with financial institutions.
Oversees investment of funds and works with banks to protect assets and ensure competitive returns.
Manage cash flow planning process and ensure funds availability.
Maintain outstanding banking relationships and strategic alliances with vendors and business partners.
Oversee AP Department, approve large payables, sign checks as necessary,
and authorize large wires and ACHs.
Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor Degree in accounting or finance
CPA designation or MBA preferred
5+ years in leadership positions
10+ years total accounting or finance experience
Expertise in vacation ownership products and timeshare associations preferred
Leadership skills, with steadfast resolve and personal integrity
Exceptional verbal, written, and visual communication skills
Understanding of advanced accounting and GAAP
Excellent analytical, reasoning and problem-solving skills
Strong proficiency with MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook, MS PowerPoint is required.
Prior experience with Great Plains software preferred
Experience in working with external auditors
