The Head of Global Engineering & Technology is responsible for directing all Global Engineering & Technology (GET) Management functions to maximize the functionality, resilience, and utilization of the company’s physical assets while minimizing the company’s risk and ensuring compliance with all relevant governmental regulations both in the U.S. and abroad. Responsible for all Site and Engineering including day to day maintenance, project delivery and execution systems in the J&J internal plants. Overall responsible for approximately $5 Billion of projects in planning or execution with an annual cashflow of approximately $500 Million. Responsible for all Manufacturing Platforms in the J&J Innovative Medicine Supply Chain.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Technology Strategy:
Leads the development and execution Technology Strategy for Janssen SC in alignment with DPDS and Technical Operations
Leads the Technical Solutions for Internal and External Network Strategy for JSC
Technical member of JSC License & Acquisition Team activities (as needed) to ensure alignments with JSC Internal or External Network
Technology Platforms:
Leads the management of major process equipment and service provider platforms with CCFS
Partner with Procurement to develop strategies supporting capital projects that optimize cost and risk. Participate in the negotiation of contracts and oversee ongoing relationships with outside service providers.
Manage supplier relationships to assure ongoing quality, timeliness, and cost are in line with business expectations
Capital Planning
Leads Strategic Capital to develop Capital long range plans, Site/Business Master Plans, and supporting plans (e.g., asset end-of-life, business continuity, sustainability)
Site Engineering and maintenance will lead all project development and delivery for strategic, base, and compliance projects in our existing sites including execution system delivery.
Project Management
Partner with senior management (GOC and EC) and provide expert advice and guidance on the evaluation /approval of projects
Overall Project Planning and Execution of major Supply Chain (internal and external) projects.
Proactively manage supply chain project issues and escalations in partnership with project and business leaders
Manage the availability of internal and external GET (Global Engineering / Site Engineering and Maintance including execution system) resources to support projects
Ensure timely and cost-effective project development, design and management, and compliance with governmental regulations.
Maintenance & Asset Management
Development and deployment of a Global Engineering and Maintenance strategy for all IMSC Platform sites, both internal and external.
Lead the maintenance and engineering organizations of all J&J Internal Supply Chain sites and work closely with the Global Platform Leaders, business leaders, stakeholders and functional groups to enable success for the J&J IM Supply Chain.
Drive standardization in equipment design and project delivery and ensure effective capital portfolio deployment in collaboration with Facilities, Execution Systems, Global Technical Services and Worldwide Engineering & TechOps.
Process Engineering
Establish future state of our manufacturing assets and maintain a roadmap for implementation of Factory of the Future Concepts.
Develop, maintain, and oversee the use of engineering design standards for process / technology platforms.
Direct internal and external design engineering resources to assure that projects meet customer requirements for current and planned facility needs
Financial Management
Establish sound financial capital estimating practices that provide budget, forecast, cashflow and variance management consistent with financial policy at the project and portfolio levelOrganization Management
Responsible for directing and developing strategy for all global Engineering Management functions to ensure engineering is seen as a value adding business function.
Plan, organize and direct the activities of the Engineering organization to support all internal/external business groups
Hiring, Training, Development, and movement of Engineer Staff across J&J.
Develop short- and long-range operating objectives, organizational structure, staffing requirements and succession plans. Integrate activities with those of other major organizational units (e.g., segments, departments, functions).
Develop and recommend departmental budget and authorize expenditures.
Partner with the Learning / Development group to design and implement departmental training programs

Education: Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) or equivalent in engineering discipline (electrical, mechanical, civil) or related discipline. Master’s degree preferred.
Experience: Fifteen or more years related experience in a senior-level role with responsibility for global engineering, preferably in a biotech/life sciences environment. Ten or more years of managerial experience required.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.
Certification/Licensure: Professional engineering license preferred.

Travel Requirements:
This position requires regular domestic and occasional international travel up to 50%.
This position is based at an existing major Janssen Manufacturing plant or office location, ideally Titusville, New Jersey or Zug, Switzerland.

The target salary for this position is $188,000-$345,000.
