About Veterinary Assistant - Neurology

  BluePearl Kirkland is hiring an exceptional Neurology Veterinary Assistant . A candidate with a genuine interest in neurology and previous veterinary experience, is preferred .

  Hours: Full time, Monday-Thursday

  Veterinary Assistant Pay I: $ 21.25 - $29.10/ hour

  This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience and advancement through CareerTrax leveling system .

  We also offer competitive shift differential pay for eligible hours worked for nights and weekends.

  *Shift differentials are based on a 4-hour minimum.

  For example:

  Mon – Fri: 6pm to 8am = $4.00 Shift Differential

  Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = $5.50 Shift Differential

  Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = $4.00 Shift Differential

We have many specialized technicians in Anesthesia, Internal Medicine, and Emergency/Critical Care. Applicants should have a strong knowledge base, motivation to learn, and ambition to work in a fast-paced team environment.

  ​ As a Neurology Veterinary Assistant , you will:

  Provide nursing care to stable patients according to hospital standards of care and core values

  Discharge, perform call backs and refill medications

  Client education, gathering histories and communicating that to the Clinician

  Accurately count heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.

  Understand normal vital parameters

  Comfortable with IVC placement and venipuncture

  Set up intravenous fluids.

  Operate all brands of intravenous fluid pumps and can troubleshoot errors.

  Restrain patients during consults and during diagnostics

  You may know us by our previous name, Seattle Veterinary Specialists. We are a well-established Emergency and Specialty practice that has been present in the community since 2007. BluePearl Kirkland is also a teaching hospital, and we frequently host a variety of veterinary technician externs, veterinarian interns, externs, and residents. We have a positive learning environment, and our team has a driving desire to continuously get better, learn more, and perform skills at the highest possible level. At any given time, you can walk through our hospital and hear educational huddles lead by technicians, assistants, and/or doctors occurring. Our associates are encouraged to participate in veterinary community outreach events such as lunch and learns, and CE lectures. In addition to learning, we have a heavy focus on patient safety, and our ICU team utilizes the recommended nursing staff-to-patient guidelines for our hospitalized patients. We have the capacity to see and treat cases of all kinds and licensed technicians have heavy involvement in building anesthetic protocols and patient care.
