Under general supervision, performs a variety of semi-skilled work involved in the servicing, repair, and maintenance of automobiles, buses, trucks, and other motor driven equipment and vehicles.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:- Services automobiles, buses, trucks and other motor driver equipment and vehicles with fuel, oil, and lubricants.- Washes and steam cleans vehicles.- Repairs and changes tires.- Checks equipment and automotive batteries, coolants, and lubricants.- Moves vehicles and equipment from place to place, test drives and transfers vehicles, as required.- Observes and reports defective parts or operation of equipment serviced.- Provides road service and towing.- Performs minor welding duties.- Completes basic forms of services performed including work orders, mileage sheets, parts, and service books.- Sweeps and cleans garage, and performs snow removal.- Provides assistance and information to co-workers.- Maintains written records of repair and servicing of vehicles and equipment.- Travels to different work sites to perform maintenance duties.- Handles firearms and personal equipment for removal and security from police vehicles.- Performs facility security and lock up at end of work shift.Required Qualifications and Skills:- Minimum of one (1) year of specialized training beyond high school in the auto and truck repair and maintenance trades.- Minimum of two (2) years of related experience, or equivalent.- A valid Montana Class B Type 2 commercial driver's license with air brake endorsement or must be obtained within ninety (90) days of employment.- Must be forklift certified or must be obtained within thirty (30) days of employment.- Must provide own tools adequate to perform duties.- Must be available to respond to emergency callback, as necessary.Work Schedule:- Monday through Friday, 1:30 p.m. - 10:00 p.m., or- Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.Salary: $19.0970 - $23.1826 per hour. Salary reflects Step 2 and Step 6 of a 7-step pay scale. Salary at hiring will be dependent upon the applicant's education, experience, and training.Equal opportunity employer.
