  The HP Legal team is responsible for all of HP’s legal matters, including government relations, brand security, intellectual property, ethics and compliance and legal counsel representation in every region.   The U.S. Channel Legal Counsel will primarily support the U.S. Channel in the United States, as well as take on projects as necessary within the North America Legal team.

  This is an outstanding opportunity for a talented and experienced attorney. The successful candidate will be able to expand their skills working with a highly experienced and talented team. The position is an individual contributor role.

  Responsibilities

  Provides legal advice to support customer-facing client decisions within the HP distribution channel.

  Supports customer-facing business teams in developing consistent and efficient go-to-market strategies, templates, and processes.

  Supports distribution channel compliance initiatives.

  Develops risk profiles addressing complex antitrust law topics.

  Refines and builds knowledge from a variety of resources, working towards becoming an expert within the HP distribution channel, and shares knowledge with other team members.

  Identifies, analyzes, and resolves complex legal issues within the HP distribution channel.

  Education Required

  A Juris Doctor from a nationally recognized law school plus an active bar membership from any of the fifty states or the District of Columbia.

  5+ years of relevant legal experience (from a combination of law firm, government, and/or in-house experience).

  Well-developed level of business experience supporting clients or advising on specialty law matters.

  Knowledge and Skills

  Experience supporting distribution channel business models.

  Well-developed breadth of practical knowledge of U.S. antitrust law with demonstrated in-depth knowledge in vertical restraints of trade and price discrimination.

  Good interpretation skills to provide counsel of company policies and procedures.

  Competence and experience in negotiating or advising business leadership and teams on commercial customer-facing transactions, preferably within the distribution channel.

  Ability to translate complex legal or factual issues into plain language communications.

  Plan and provide training to internal clients on designated legal topics.

  Routinely exercise independent judgment in developing methods, techniques and criteria for achieving objectives.

  Contribute to the development of innovative principles and ideas.

  Support Legal’s commitment to continuous improvement by identifying and leading solutions with Legal and internal clients to improve quality.

  Strong ability to issue spot within a complex set of facts.

  Demonstrate a growth mindset and collaborative skills.

  Knowledge and ability to manage pre-litigation disputes.

  The willingness and ability to solve challenges; ability to work with minimal direction and supervision; proactive, not reactive; and be able to thrive in change.

  The ability to have proactive and effective communications of valuable information to clients and colleagues.

  Capability to escalate issues effectively to high-level legal, account and business executives.

  The ability to travel as needed.
