　　Job Description:

　　Duties/Responsibilities

　　Cleans, stocks, and readies the department for care of patients.

　　Orders equipment and supplies; maintains par levels of supplies

　　Maintains equipment and prepares for readiness.

　　Performs housekeeping duties as needed (i.e: emptying trash and linen; returning supplies).

　　Performs errands to other areas of the hospital.

　　Transports patients within the department and to in-hospital locations as needed.

　　Performs clinical functions, utilizes sterile technique when necessary, and obtains labs specimens, vital signs, and other tasks as needed.

　　Carries out tasks as directed by physicians, nurse director and nursing staff.

　　Maintenance of the medical records located on the nursing unit.

　　Unit receptionist responsibilities: telephone, visitor assistance, specimen delivery, phone calls, mail distribution.

　　Responsible for the performance of clerical duties on the nursing unit

　　Experience/Knowledge/Skills Required:

　　Current knowledge of medical terminology -must have taken and successfully completed a Medical Terminology Course within the past 2 years (or be able to pass a medical terminology competency equivalent to final exam of medical terminology course at time of interview).

　　Must have current Notary or obtained within 30 days.

　　Possesses organizational and planning skills.

　　Demonstrated communication skill, verbal and written

　　Ability to concentrate and prioritize in distracting environment

　　Ability to work at a quick pace with minimal supervision.

　　Must be able to transcribe information & medication orders into Meditech system accurately. Previous Meditech experience preferred.

　　Education Required:

　　High School graduate or equivalency

　　Knowledge of basic patient care and technical procedures

　　Demonstrated computer skills.

　　Excellent organizational skills and work pace consistent with working in a busy, acute care unit.

　　Registration/Certification Required:

　　Current MA Certified Nurse Assistant License, EMT License, or current enrollment in a nursing program with sufficient hours of clinical rotation required.

　　Active American Heart Association BLS certification REQUIRED upon hire.
