Responsibilities
•
In this role, the successful candidate is responsible for the independent operation of sonographic equipment, and for performing diagnostic examinations using sonography
•
The Ultrasound Technologist may be responsible depending on work location for daily operations of the sonographic laboratory, patient schedule, equipment maintenance, reports of equipment failures, and quality assessment (QA)
•
The sonographer maintains a high standard of medical ethics at all times and is self-motivated to increase their level of understanding & knowledge of the field, disease(s), and new procedures as they evolve
•
Operates Ultrasound equipment to take diagnostic images of specific body areas parts as ordered
•
Produces diagnostic images for interpretation by physician
•
Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of Ultrasound equipment
•
Prepares patient using proper positioning andor immobilizing patients and giving them proper instructions regarding procedure
•
Quality review of the technologist s images fall within guidelines of departmental SOP
•
Technologist is observed to give clear and concise instruction to the patient before beginning an exam
•
Accurately utilizes the PACS system to make images available to the physician for interpretation
•
Technologist creates a minimum number of exceptions
•
Enters proper exam coding
•
Arrives and completes exams in a timely fashion
•
Assists in the care and maintenance of facilities, equipment, and supplies
•
Reports any equipment problems or malfunctions to the supervisor in a timely fashion
•
Instructs and supervises ultrasound students in a clinical practicum
•
Works with the ultrasound student to perform exams as well as performing individual image evaluation
•
Performs all other related as assigned
Qualifications
•
To qualify, you must have a Technical Diploma and be a Graduate from an an Accredited (2) year Ultrasound Program, required
•
Registered Diagnostic Sonographer OR Registered Vascular Technologist, required
•
Ability to effectively operate sonographic equipment, required
•
Ability to work efficiently and cope with emergency situations, required
•
Emotional and physical health sufficient to meet the demands of the position, required
•
Ability to maintain prolonged arm positions necessary for scanning, required
•
Associate's degree In a related field
•
1.5 years Ultrasound experience preferably in abdomen and/or vascular
•
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization
