JMT is currently ranked #59 on Engineering News-Record's list of the Top 500 Design Firms.JMT is seeking a Transportation Quality Assurance Inspector Supervisor for a position available on PennDOT's Major Bridge Initiative in the Susquehanna County area. The successful candidates will apply standard quality assurance inspection procedures to ongoing activities during and after construction for structural quality, general safety, and conformance to plans, specifications and codes. Sponsorship is not available for this position.Essential functions and responsibilitiesThis is a Quality Assurance Supervisory inspection position on a large, multiyear, complex, highway construction project which includes multiple structures, roadway restoration and traffic improvements. This position includes verification and documentation of compliance with contract requirements and PennDOT construction requirements.Review and interpret plans, site layouts, specifications, and construction methods to ensure compliance with legal requirements and safety regulations.Perform verification of conformance to standards for testing on concrete, soils, and other materials.Ability to measure dimensions and verify level, alignment, and elevation of structures, fixtures, grades and/or pavement to ensure compliance to plans and codes.Coordinate and supervise project quality assurance inspection activities and staff to ensure contractor compliance of plans, contract documents, specifications, and standards.Assign, schedule and maintain subordinate quality assurance inspection staff throughout all phases of the project.Work on behalf of the client to draft project correspondence, facilitate project meetings, and resolve construction related field issues.Gathers, reviews, and maintains project records (using PennDOT ECMS and other documentation systems).Compose field notes, computations and prepare reports as required.Interact with the general public, government agencies, contractors, sub-contractors, and other internal and external parties including response to inquiries.

Required ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent4+ years of Highway and Structure Construction Related Inspection Experience and 1 year of supervisory experienceOne year as a Transportation Construction Inspector Supervisor; orTwo years of construction inspection experience and an associate's degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, geotechnical engineering, surveying engineering technology, or a closely related engineering technology and 1 year of supervisory experienceAbility to act in an Owner's Agent/Responsible in Charge rolePreferred QualificationsNICET Level 3 with structure type project experience or twenty years minimum highway and bridge construction inspection supervision/management or acceptable related experienceAssociates or bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Civil EngineeringNECEPT-Bituminous Field TechnicianPennDOT Concrete Field Technician (ACI Concrete Field Technician is prerequisite)CDS NeXtGen and/or ECMS Wave 5Working ConditionsWork is performed in the field. Ability to extensively perform bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, and lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs. as needed.
