HDR is hiring a Transportation Hydraulics Engineer to work in our Flowood, MS office and will work as a key member of a hydraulic/ water resource design team for moderate to large projects and serve as a task lead/project engineer on small to large projects. This position can also be based in Mobile or Birmingham, AL.
Primary Responsibilities: Preparation of the following hydraulic design work using local or national standards: hydrology and hydraulic analysis, scour assessments, roadway drainage design, erosion and sediment pollution control design, stormwater management design. May also be responsible for preparing specifications and estimates, erosion and sediment pollution control plans, drainage profiles, and post-construction stormwater management plans. May assist in preparing scopes, budgets and schedules including day to day communication (verbal and written) with the client. May support and advise junior engineers and technical staff. Write reports and technical memos. Coordinate with subconsultants. Keep projects on schedule and within budget. Perform other duties as needed.
Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related Engineering discipline. PE license. Minimum of 5 years of transportation hydraulic/water resource engineering design experience. Must be proficient with Microsoft Office, Hydraulic modeling software (HEC-RAS, SMS/SRH-2D, etc.) or other design software as appropriate. Previous work experience with an A/E/C Engineering firm. Excellent oral and written communication skills. An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must.
Preferred Qualifications: Masters degree in Civil Engineering or other engineering discipline. Experience in the Mississippi/Alabama marketplace. Task Manager for water resources. Experience in Storm and Sanitary, Microstation OpenRoads Designer, PondPack, HydroCAD, HY-8, HEC-HMS, ArcGIS Pro, and GeoPak.
