Summary Serves as the Transportation Assistant in a Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) location. The primary purpose of this position is planning, coordinating, and scheduling commissary product, operating supplies and equipment shipments to locations in the Pacific Area (Guam, Japan, and Korea). Responsibilities Responsible for analyzing, coordinating, and booking source load container shipments of perishable and semi perishable resale products, operating supplies, and equipment to Central Distribution Centers (CDCs) and commissaries in the Pacific Area. Analyses data to make carrier selections based on the U.S. Transportation Command's (USTRANSCOM) best value criteria. Plans and schedules dry and refrigerated containers, break bulk cargo, and (emergency only) airlift cargo requirements from numerous U.S. Distributors and source load suppliers to overseas commissaries and CDCs. Continuously monitors the status of bookings coordinating with carriers, ports, and consignees as appropriate. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications You must meet the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) qualifications for series 2102 and additional requirements by the announcement closing date. Advises appropriate officials and locations of all relevant shipment information.
