About Training and Development Manager

  Job Summary

  The Training & Development Manager is responsible for partnering with corporate and local leadership to identify training and development imperatives for the organization that align with the company’s business strategies and designing, planning, and delivering programs to address those needs. The training manager will also partner with the CHRO on measuring the tangible impacts of training within the organization including on manager success, employee retention, customer satisfaction, and employee engagement.

  Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  -Creates new training programs to align with organizational strategies. Reviews existing training programs; suggests enhancements and modifications to improve engagement, learning, and retention and/or to meet the changing needs of internal customers, the organization, or the industry.

  -Ensures that training materials and programs are current, accurate, and effective. Coordinates with and utilizes internal subject matter expertise (in addition to vendors and third parties) to execute training initiatives as required.

  -Maintains knowledge of new methods, technology, and techniques for training, learning strategies, and training requirements applicable to the organization and/or industry.

  -Identifies future opportunities to enhance current training or deliver new training experiences in response to operational changes, customer needs, industry developments, or manufacturer requirements.

  -Develops recommendations which prioritize training and development needs accordingly.

  -Leads the company’s Leadership Development experience in collaboration with the CHRO and executive leadership team.

  -Conducts or facilitates required and recommended training sessions.

  -Collaborates with vendors and third-party training providers to arrange employee registration for and participation in outside training programs.

  Prepares and recommends a training budget. Ensures that training milestones and goals are achieved while staying within approved training budget.-Owns the company’s LMS tools and ensures that employees are current with any self-paced training requirements such as code of business conduct, policy compliance, and anti-harassment

  -Performs other duties as assigned.

  Position Qualifications

  -Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Education, a related field, or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Master’s degree with a concentration in Organizational Development or Training and Development is highly preferred.

  -Minimum of 5 years of experience in a comparable training and development specialist or manager role. Past experience delivering training in a retail environment highly preferred.

  -Exceptional proficiency in MS products including Excel, PPT, Word as well as proficiency in other presentation software such as Brainshark, Canva, and Prezi

  -Detail-oriented and highly organized, capable of managing multiple priorities on a daily basis

  -Must be team oriented and a strong collaborator

  -Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

  -Must be customer focused, an active listener, and responsive to customer needs and requests (internally and externally)

  -Must have past experience effectively delivering training experiences with measurable outcomes

  -High degree of knowledge around best practices for training including adult learning theories

  -Must be comfortable educating others in person and virtually

  -Must have experience using technical resources and tools for e-learning purposes.

  -Must be creative with an eye for appealing learning design and aesthetics

  -Highly personable, presentable, and comfortable representing the company internally and externally

  -Exemplify the company’s core values of Integrity, Courtesy, Respect, and Innovation

  -Approximately 20% travel with the vast majority within the state of Iowa
