  The ideal candidate will participate in planning, budgeting, and delivering traffic engineering projects including traffic operational analysis, traffic microsimulation models, roadway design, signal design, ITS design, signing and marking, and/or construction traffic control plans, etc. Applicant will be expected to work closely with other members of the Traffic Engineering team as well as other groups in meeting changing project needs. The candidate is expected to provide supervision, technical direction and mentoring to less experienced personnel. Our office provides support for other Jacobs offices and regions, so there is potential opportunity for work on major, exciting projects across the USA and internationally.

  Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  Perform transportation/traffic engineering planning and design including leading project tasks.

  Perform civil design calculations, sketches, drawings, technical comparisons and similar technical work as required by assignments.

  Develop solutions to complex problems that require a high degree of innovation and ingenuity.

  Participate in planning, cost development and management, and scheduling for assigned projects.

  Maintain effective communication with project team members and with clients.

  Provide guidance on technical aspects of project and in coordination meetings with clients.

  Demonstrate proficiency in using computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment, traffic analysis and simulation software, and other office production software to perform engineering tasks.

  Here’s what you’ll need :

  Bachelor of Civil Engineering with a focus in Transportation/Traffic engineering discipline;

  Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Texas or capability of getting registered through reciprocity within 6 months;

  Significant experience in traffic engineering design including highway signs and pavement markings, illumination, and ITS design.

  Demonstrated experience with preparation of detailed design plans to state and local standards.

  Demonstrated experience with traffic engineering operations and design

  Ideally, you'll also have:

  Professional Traffic Operations Engineer Certification

  Project management and task leading experience on various traffic design projects

  Experience with preparing technical reports

  Previous work experience with TxDOT and other Texas municipalities
