The Massachusetts Department of Mental Health (DMH) Corrigan Mental Health Center is seeking a Trades Worker. The successful candidate is assigned to varied tasks to assist Maintenance Foreman in the performance of their duties in a variety of trades (e.g., plumbing, electrical, painting, locksmith, carpentry, etc.), perform routine trade-related maintenance and repairs; maintain machinery, equipment and tools. _Please Note_: This position is 40 hours per week. The selected candidate will work from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The days off are Sunday and Saturday. _ Duties and Responsibilities (these are a general summary and not be all inclusive):_ * Performs preventive maintenanceand repairs onmachinery,poweredequipment, facilities systems and tools by cleaning,lubricating,greasing, oiling,replacing, repairing, etc.inaccordance with equipmentinstructions,servicemanuals and/or supervisordirections. * Performs related duties such as furnishing tools and materials to tradesman throughout the course of a job; holding materials and/or tools in place while journeyman work on them; cleaning work area upon completion; operating or using soldering and/or brazing equipment; erecting and dismantling wall partitions; requesting supplies and maintain records;contractor escorts &constructionsite safety monitoring,cleaning,and otherrelated duties. * Operates motor vehicles to transport equipment, personnel; safety to work areas and delivery of correspondence i.e., Payroll, Mail, etc. to other Sites as needed. * Participates in cutting grass, weeds, brush and raking and collection of leaves, brush or rubbish wither by manual tools or power-driven equipment to ensure a safe environment. * Participatesin snow/ice removalby manualtools,powertools, sand,ice melt,and vehicle snowplow.Keeps theseareas safe, clear, and available for access: Entrances, walkways, egressdoors, parking lots, driveway,loading docks, dumpstersandutilitysystems.Includingany other similartaskother thansnowor ice. * Mixes material as necessary, such as adhesives, paint, etc. and prepares surfaces for new substances and paints as needed. * Stores and moves equipment, cleanup work, keep and leave job site in safe condition for patients and staff. * Erects barricades duringemergencies,construction work,andtrafficcontrolprojects. * Removes, repairs, replaces fans, screens, and windows to provide proper environment for seasonal climate conditions. * Performs other minor carpentry work using necessary hand or power tools as needed. * Installs, repairs, replaces, and adjusts building hardware. * Attends mandatory classes as provided by staff development department. * Communicates with employee/clients on an as needed basis, appropriate to age, cultural or psychosocial needs by referring or directing individuals to the proper personnel/agency. * Performsanyofthesetasks as requestedbysupervisorstosupport DMH Communityprograms throughout. * Responds to events includingemergencies, weather,disasters,facility systems, etc., asassigned and directed. * Follows safety/PPE requirementsas requiredby OSHA,SafetyDataSheets, toolinstructions, or as directed. __ _Preferred Qualifications:_ * Possession of a trade school diploma or certificate of completion in one of the trades, or in industrial maintenance or have a minimum of two years’ experience working in construction. * Working knowledge of simple construction and repair procedures, and the use of tools and equipment used in the trades. * Ability to perform manual labor including heavy lifting. * Ability to climb and work from ladders, staging's, and scaffolding at some distance from the ground. __ _License and/or Certification Requirements:_ * Must possess a valid Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Operators License (Class D) or equivalent in the state in which you reside. _DMH Mission Statement:_ The Dr. John C.
