OverviewABOUT THE POSITION
VHB is seeking a Traction Power Designer to join our dynamic growing Transportation practice in the Northeast. This position provides an opportunity to work on complex transit and rail infrastructure traction power projects and play an important role in expanding and shaping the group.
Responsibilities
Assist in preparation of design drawings and documents, technical specifications, cost estimates, proposals, calculations, and studies associated with transit and rail traction power systems, including load flow analyses and computational analyses for power systems both AC and DC
Assist in preparation of final design document preparation for traction power systems and elements, substations, negative return, power distribution, facility power, signal power, motor generators, and security systems on several types of transit and rail infrastructure projects Prepare plans, specifications, reports, and analyses to meet scope, schedule, cost, and quality requirementsReview contractor design drawings and specifications to ensure system requirements are metSkills and Attributes
Knowledge of railway substation and power distribution systems designDemonstrated excellence in verbal presentations and technical writingTeam oriented with strong capability to work independentlyRobust technical and critical thinking skillsDetail oriented and quality focusedStrong project/task management skillsAutoCAD proficiencyQualifications
0-1 years of experience in traction power/systems design engineering BS in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field of study preferredOur best estimate of the salary range for this position located in New York City is $80,000-87,000. The final compensation will be based on a variety of factors such as individual qualifications, education, and experience.
