Set on a 36-acre campus in Commack, NY, the Gurwin Healthcare System includes the 460-bed Gurwin Jewish Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, providing short-term rehabilitation and long-term skilled nursing care, memory care, respiratory and ventilator care, palliative and hospice care, social and medical adult day programs, and on-site dialysis. Sharing the campus is Gurwin’s Assisted Living community (Gurwin Jewish Fay J. 　　Our innovative philosophy and growing services offer opportunities to advance your career. We are currently seeking a full-time Therapeutic Recreation Specialist who will embody the passion and commitment required to deliver the ultimate care for our participants.

　　You will be scheduled to work Tuesday through Saturday 8:00am-4:00pm.

　　EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

　　Bachelor's Degree and CTRS preferred.

　　Experience in medical chart documentation including assessments, care planning, MDS and progress notes.

　　Computer skills required.

　　DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

　　Documentation, planning, organizing, facilitation and promoting Therapeutic Recreation and treatment programs.

　　The ability to discern the needs and behaviors of sub-acute/ rehab patients.

　　Able to a ddresses/accommodate the age-specific physical, psychosocial and emotional changes in residents when planning programs and/or delivering care appropriately, as they differ from those of the elderly.

　　Demonstrates ability to originate new and unique programs.

　　Capable of transporting residents to and from recreation areas.

　　Demonstrates good time management skills.
