The Department of Aerospace Engineering at the University of IllinoisUrbana-Champaign seeks highly qualified candidates for a full-timefaculty position at all ranks. All areas of space systems, spacescience, space medicine, space robotics, and space situational awarenessare of primary interest. The Aerospace Engineering Department at the University of IllinoisUrbana-Champaign has top-ranked graduate and undergraduate programs, 33faculty (tenure-track, tenured, and specialized), over 750undergraduates and 300 graduate students. The department has severalstate-of-the-art facilities to support space research, including theLaboratory for Advanced Space Systems at Illinois and the Composites andAdditive Manufacturing Laboratory. Our faculty and students are affiliated with and have access toworld-class experimental and computational facilities located inon-campus multidisciplinary research (fundamental and translational)centers and laboratories, including: Applied Research Institute ,Advanced Materials Testing and Evaluation Laboratory , AerodynamicsResearch Laboratory , the Coordinated Science Laboratory , the Centerfor Hypersonics and Entry Systems Studies , Frederick Seitz MaterialsResearch Laboratory , Holonyak Micro Nanotechnology Lab , the BeckmanInstitute for Advanced Science and Technology , and the National Centerfor Supercomputing Applications .
A doctoral degree in Aerospace Engineering or a related field isrequired at the start date, and salary will be commensurate withqualifications and experience. The budgeted salary range for theposition is $106,000 to $122,000 at the Assistant Professor level,$122,000 to $140,000 at the Associate Professor level, and $140,000to $170,000 at the Full Professor level, for a 9-month service basis.
