About Test & Validation Engineer, Deployment Readiness

  Description

  Amazon is building the next generation software, hardware, and processes that will run the global network of fulfillment centers that move many millions of units of inventory, and ensure that customers get what they want when we promised. We do this by building automated solutions to handle things that technology does well, while relying on people to handle things that humans do well. We are constantly innovating in the ways we are automating and accelerating the delivery of products and packages which includes building custom hardware and applying robotics, autonomy, supply chain optimization, machine learning, manipulation, image processing, and real-time data processing using distributed systems.

  The WW Technology Deployment org is seeking a talented and solutions-oriented Test & Validation Engineer to contribute to delivering transformational innovation to the business. You will be part of a team with the mission to ensure that robotics technologies maturing through the development pipeline are vetted and tested to identify and resolve issues upstream before deployments at scale. This role is a key part of a technical team, with the following responsibilities:

  Key job responsibilities

  • Participate in strategic Deployment Readiness projects with significant technical depth and breadth

  • Design field and laboratory trials to rigorously test and validate technology and deployment processes, including physical, functional, performance, rate, and scalability

  • Develop methodologies and tools to address gaps in deployment solutions through rapid experimentation cycles, enabling increased deployment scale, speed, and resource use efficiency

  • Create master validation plans and document outputs and observed improvements of iterative tests

  • Make adjustments or improvements to equipment and processes based on test results

  • Partner with the Deployment Modeling team to provide real world outcomes of theoretical deployment models, allowing these models to be updated

  • Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards

  • Demonstrate the effectiveness of your solutions through field and lab validations

  We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:

  Westborough, MA, USA

  Basic Qualifications

  • BS in Computer Science, Electrical, Manufacturing, Industrial or Software Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or equivalent

  • 3-5 years relevant experience, preferably in an automation or robotics environment

  • Contribute to engineering efforts from design to implementation, solving complex technical challenges around developer and engineering productivity and velocity especially as it relates to rapid test iteration

  • Knowledge of statistical analysis software (e.g. MATLAB) and manufacturing processes

  • Experience with Testing or Validation processes and procedures, including end-to-end system integration

  • Design, set up and maintain test fixtures to verify software on real hardware, create and maintain lab documentation

  • Troubleshoot hardware, software and networking issues

  • Drive adoption of best practices in testbed maintainability

  • Manage equipment stock, procure lab equipment

  • Excellent business communication skills

  Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience deploying large scale robotics solutions in both Greenfield and Retrofit;

  • Designing testing protocols;

  • Purchasing and maintaining relevant testing equipment;

  • Able to calibrate and repair systems
