ABOUT THE ROLE
The Terminal Supervisor is a supervisory position with direct reports as well as technical responsibilities. This position provides direction to employees and supports the Terminal Manager or Sr. Terminal Manager and
will be based in the largest HolcimUS Cement Terminal facilities. The candidate will need to have strong mechanical skills to successfully assist in maintaining mechanical and electrical systems. This person must be able to operate heavy machinery and have the ability to assist the operators with running the terminal and facility. This is a physically demanding position, in a fast-paced environment; this terminal receives material, bags, and distributes building materials via ships, barges, rail, and trucks.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
Provide guidance and direction for the team on a daily basis, and in absence of management assume the responsibilities of the lead role. Responsible for maintaining a safe working environment, including coordination of facility and equipment repairs, and ensure all employees observe safe work practices at the terminal.
Ensure strict environmental standards are complied with and communicated to all terminal employees and maintain all necessary permits
Manage assigned personnel at the terminal, which includes but is not limited to staffing requirements, assigning and determining workloads, establishing work schedules, monitoring work, evaluating performance with a focus on the training, development and involvement of employees.
Provides feedback to employees related to performance management, coaching and the direction and assignment of work.
Plan, organize, coordinate and implement all practices related to accurate and timely rail and truck ordering; schedule and coordinate the unloading of rail and truck at the terminals
Manage and optimize the utilization rate of the equipment and maintenance of all equipment
Monitor and improve customer service efforts
Coordinate and interact with customers, drivers, sales, logistics, dispatchers and other terminal managers.
Attend and participate in plant operation meetings and region planning group meetings
Develop and maintain the terminal's annual budget and be accountable for results based on defined KPI's
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Education: Bachelor's degree or 5-7 years of equivalent experience.
Additional Education Preferred: Bachelor's degree
Field of Study Preferred: Mechanical, Maintenance, Logistics, or equivalent technical degree
Required Work Experience: 5-7 years experience in heavy industry
Mechanical skills in heavy industrial environment required
Cement Terminal experience preferred
Effective leadership, delegation, and interpersonal skills; trustworthy and trusting of others
Excellent communication skills required
Experience operating heavy machinery required
Required Computer and Software Skills: Proficient computer skills are required, SAP knowledge is preferred
Travel Requirements: 20% Regional Travel Required to other terminals when needed

Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving, and adhering to health, safety, and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.
Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim-approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees who are required to wear respirators must be clean-shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
