　　TEMPORARY WGA DESK ASSOCIATE for CBS News Radio, New York

　　Hourly Rate CBA Scale (based on years of experience): $16.16 - $19.40/hour

　　WGA rate based on experience, non-contract, non-exempt/WGA Union

　　CBS News Radio is looking for motivated individuals for part-time opportunities as a Desk Associate. The job of a Desk Associate is to aid the newsroom staff in accomplishing the mission of putting out a compelling news product. CBS News Radio needs a candidate who can multi-task and handle numerous responsibilities that are vital to the day-to-day operation of a newsroom.

　　One of the most significant duties of a Desk Associate is the answering of the newsroom phone. The candidate will answer phones in a professional matter as numerous dignitaries, politicians and other news professionals call daily. Desk Associates will provide reporters and staff with information, research and organize feeds and sources of incoming news. These sources will include reporter pieces, interviews, and news events. Weekend and holiday work expected.

　　This individual will work closely with management, assignment and copy editors. The successful candidate will be required to understand CBS News Radio and all aspects of the news product that we deliver.

　　Required:

　　Successful candidates must have a passion for news and must be interested in learning how to identify and tell compelling stories

　　Must be a polished professional with excellent communication skills and phone skills

　　Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines

　　Experience in audio editing

　　Bachelors Degree required; communications/journalism preferred

　　Hiring Salary Range: $16.16 - 19.40.

　　The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York City, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
