  THIS IS A TEMPORARY POSITION (9 MONTHS OR LESS) - PAYING $18.00-18.50 PER HOUR

  Description of Job

  Conduct angler creel surveys at Jackson Reservoir. Primary duties include conducting instantaneous angler counts and contacting anglers to determine fishing pressure, catch and harvest statistics, and angler preferences.

  Creel clerk will perform data entry, analysis, synthesis, and report writing.

  Creel clerk will be required to work for four 10-hr days per week, including two week days and two weekend days.

  Creel clerk will be required to work holidays as part of the four day work week. Creel clerk will occasionally assist aquatic biologist with standardized sampling of ponds, lakes, reservoirs, streams, and rivers.

  Primary duties while assisting biologist may include sampling sportfish and native fish populations, performing fish population estimates, measuring and installing habitat, mapping lakes, assisting in spawn taking operations, stocking fish, and performing chemical reclamations.

  Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights

  Must be 18 years of age or older

  Must have a current and valid drivers' license or reliable transportation OR Must have a current and valid driver’s license required for operating a state vehicle

  Must be willing and able to work outside which may involve inclement weather.

  Must be willing and able to work 40-50 hours per week.

  Must work for four 10 to 12 hour days per week, including two week days and two weekend days, and must work holidays as part of the four day work week.

  Must be available to work varied shifts including evenings.

  Preference may be given to applicants with or working towards a Natural Resources degree or similar education.

  Previous experience with fish identification, fish sampling, angling, and/or public relations preferred.

  Ability to work with limited supervision and work well within a team.

  The work-site will provide some uniform T-shirts.

  Applicants may be subject to successful completion of a comprehensive background check.

  Preferred Qualifications: Must possess good fish identification skills.
