  Gartner Refrigeration Company has been doing business in Duluth Minnesota since 1923. Over the years Gartner Refrigeration has evolved into a company that currently has 30 employees as well as the resources and technical ability to provide its customers with services and solutions that they have come to expect. Since 1974 the company has been located at its current West Duluth location providing Refrigeration and HVAC systems solutions. The company broadened its abilities in 1985 with the addition of the Temperature Controls division. This division has also evolved into a highly technical branch of the company that provides solutions for Building Automation Systems as well as providing customers with customized Energy Conservation Measures.

  We are in the business of providing service, while the majority of companies can claim they provide service, providing the kind of service that really gets people’s attention requires continuous evaluation of the customer’s needs, the ability to assemble a team of competent craft technicians, and the administrative staff to address the ever increasing accounting demands of today’s business environment. Quality service is something that Gartner Refrigeration continuously strives to achieve by openly seeking customer feedback and addressing customer concerns at those times when we haven’t measured up to their expectations.

  Job Description

  Temperature Control Technician is responsible for start up, troubleshooting, commissioning and servicing of DDC building automation systems for commercial HVAC systems.

  Ideal candidate will be a team player who is cooperative, and supportive to meet internal and external expectations and requirements of the Service Department.

  Job Duties:

  Interpret control drawings, plan and specifications to test program.

  Point to point checkout, startup, and commissioning on assigned projects.

  Utilize hand tools, laptop, and test equipment on site.

  Analyze problems and resolve issues to ensure overall system functions properly.

  Responds to customer service calls (emergency, on-site, or on-line), checks indicated points of trouble, analyzes requirement of system involved and checks and tests systems components.

  Performs preventative maintenance and diagnostics on automation system and components according to service agreement contracts.

  Tests and verifies system readings ensuring optimal system operation.

  Completes service repairs, replacements, upgrades, adjustments and calibration on automation systems and components.

  Completes and submits written service orders and reports covering all aspects of each assignment and activity.

  Provides technical support, and direction to end-users and employees when applicable.

  Assertive and decisive when handling problematic situations with customers and staff.

  Job Requirements:

  5 years of BAS controls experience to include: Building Automation Systems, DDC, EMS and building operations.

  High School Diploma or GED.

  Currently a US citizen.

  Commercial HVAC trouble shooting skills

  Hydronic or Pneumatic experience a plus

  Programming and commissioning experience.

  Proficient with test meters and understanding wiring diagrams.

  Possess a thorough understanding of control theory and control concepts.

  Proficient in Microsoft Office Software and strong PC skills.

  Possess strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills; both written and verbal.

  Ability to implement strategies and procedures that will improve Service Operations.
