DESCRIPTIVE STATEMENT:
This is a non-exempt, temporary, part-time position, limited to 1300 hours annually. Individual will be part of a professional, highly motivated team within the Pueblo Municipal Court. The position requires strong clerical skills, including computer usage, phone etiquette, filing, office equipment operation, ability to prioritize and multitask, and strong communication skills.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
This job description is an overview and is intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed. It is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all the functions and tasks required of the position.
Process tickets
Arranging and scheduling court dates with Police Department schedules, Animal Control schedules, Sales Tax, Zoning, and Health Department personnel, and scheduling pretrial hearings
Providing service at the counter which requires interfacing with attorneys, defendants, and members of the general public
Preparing deferments on routine tickets for the Municipal Judge's approval
Explaining and providing information regarding Municipal Court procedures
Uses computer terminal and computerized cash register, and handles large sums of money on a daily basis
Maintains required Municipal Court records
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Requires ability to:
Work with a variety of individuals while displaying a positive and outgoing attitude
Work a flexible 25 hours workweek with the possibility of an occasional 40 hour workweek
Respond to work schedule changes with very short notice
Multitask and change project direction in a matter of minutes
Keep focused and on task without outside interruptions
Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
Multitask and prioritize several different projects at the same time while being detail oriented
Learn new skills quickly
Perform duties with a professional presentation and demeanor
Take initiative and make suggestions for process improvement
Performs other clerical duties as required
Requires knowledge of:
All Microsoft Office applications, with a focus on Word, Excel & Access
Multiple technology platforms and equipment
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The physical standards an employee must meet in order to perform the essential job duties with or without a reasonable accommodation include, but are not limited to:
performing activities requiring a full range of body movement including driving, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, carrying, walking, and standing
Lifting, carrying, pulling and/or pushing office supplies and equipment weighing up to 20 lbs,
Sitting for prolonged periods of time with occasional standing and walking to locate/retrieve office materials,
Hand/eye coordination and repetitive coordination of hand/wrist movement for extended periods of operation of office equipment
Adequate vision to safely operate a vehicle and office equipment, seeing miniscule details on audio/visual materials, and reading electronic and paper documents
Hear and verbally communicate to maintain effective interpersonal communications with employees and citizens
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
In addition to the knowledge, skills and abilities, the position requires:
A high school diploma, GED or higher education; and
At least three years of successful related experience in a clerical position, which must include the required ability and skills listed above
Must pass a background check
Experience within a judicial environment is highly desirable.
Due to Federal and State Criminal Justice System access requirements, classifications that access and maintain criminal justice information may also be required, as a condition of employment, to not have been convicted of and/or have pending charges of a felony or misdemeanor crime that would deny or otherwise restrict access to criminal justice information. This requirement applies to all existing City employees as well as external candidates seeking to fill positions that meet the given criteria.

City of Pueblo Temporary and Seasonal Employee Sick Leave Benefits
Beginning January 1, 2021, all employers in Colorado are required to provide paid sick leave to employees under the Healthy Families and Workplaces Act (“HFWA”). Said leave is accrued at one hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked, up to a maximum of 48 hours.
Per the Act, leave may be used for any of the following reasons:
The employee has a mental or physical illness, injury, or health condition; needs a medical diagnosis, care, or treatment related to such illness, injury, or condition; or needs to obtain preventive medical care.
The employee needs to care for a family member who has a mental or physical illness, injury, or health condition; needs a medical diagnosis, care, or treatment related to such illness, injury, or condition; or needs to obtain preventive medical care.
The employee or family member has been the victim of domestic abuse, sexual assault, or harassment and needs to be absent from work for purposes related to such crime; or
A public official has ordered the closure of the school or place of care of the employee's child or of the employee's place of business due to a public health emergency, necessitating the employee's absence from work.
Consistent with the HWFA, part-time temporary and seasonal employees of the City shall not carry forward more than forty-eight (48) hours of unused sick leave from one year to the next.

City employment as a temporary or seasonal employee means that the most you can expect to work is 1300 hours in a calendar year. Depending on the work schedule required by the hiring department, this means more time to spend with your family and/or doing other activities.
