Position Summary:
The Telecomm Technician provides daily operational support for various types of electronic communications hardware and software, which includes PBX OS, voice mail, contact center, and paging systems. Provides hardware support for analog, digital, VOIP switches and phones. Installs upgrades as needed, trouble-shoots and assists with telephony network design. Covers several sites, frequently working irregular hours to perform duties.
Qualifications:
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS Bachelors Electronics or Bachelors Engineering General or Associate's degree in Electronics and two (2) years experience in Telecommunications is valid substitution for bachelor's degree. OR Three (3) years of related telecommunications experience is valid substitution for educational degree. CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS Driver's License EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Three (3) Telecommunications. Three (3) years experience with PBX programming, telecom/data networks and cable termination procedures. Hands-on experience with configuration of new lines (analog, digital & VOIP), trunk groups, system speed calls, distance steering calls and various optional features. Must be familiar with media gateways, signaling servers, reach line cards and routing equipment. Have good understanding PRI's, line-side T!s, super loop configuration, calling search spaces, digit manipulation, soft phones and phone emulators. SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE Must have good communication skills, be detail oriented, have the ability to multi-task and be adaptable to change. Must be good at decision-making, problem-solving, and have a strong customer focus. Solid experience with PC hardware, software and related peripherals required.
Essential Functions:
Coordinates new software installations and changes to existing service.
Experience with Cisco Unified Communications
Manages Work Orders (Wos) as assigned and complete work by scheduled due dates.
Consults with users at all levels of the organization regarding technical problems and at times acts as a liaison between telecommunications and users.
Designs and maintains telephone software.
Maintains telecommunications hardware, software and services inventory.
Software administration, report generation, telecom analysis and recommendations.
Provides documentation by properly labeling wiring, blocks, panels and anything pertaining to telecommunications equipment.
Consults with outside vendors regarding billing, ordering and technical support.
Able to plan, coordinate, and train departmental staff of systems workflows.
Demonstrates leadership in project management skills, motivation, training and end-user support.
