  The Role

  Come join our team as a Technical Services Intern. You will be an active member of the STERIS Life Sciences Consumables Technical Services Team supporting the Process and Cleaner Evaluation (PACE®) Laboratory and Pharmaceutical Detergent product line. This internship will allow you to develop work instructions for analytical instrumentation. You will be gaining knowledge by working under the guidance of STERIS Life Sciences Technical Services Management.

  Paid Internship

  Target start date is May 20th, 2024 and end date is August 9th, 2024

  Full-Time (40 hours) - This is a full-time internship Monday-Friday

  Location - This is an on-site role and requires interns to work weekly at our St. Louis, MO facility

  What You Will Do

  Assist Life Sciences Consumable Technical Services team in the development of work instructions for analytical instrumentation:

  + + Development of a chromogenic RNAse and DNAse assay using the new capital equipment (microplate reader)

  Evaluate parameters for RNAse and DNAse removal with pharmaceutical detergent products from various substrates compared to commodity chemicals

  Assisting with PACE laboratory Customer projects, as assigned

  What You Need To Be Successful

  Requires experience in a laboratory setting, experience with a variety of analytical instrumentation is beneficial.

  Ability to collect and analyze data and identify trends.

  Must have the technical aptitude necessary to work with formulated chemistries products, and the interpersonal and communication skills to engage as a team player who is detail oriented, communicates well, and follows through.

  Ability to lift 20+ lbs. occasionally.

  Education:

  Minimum Educational Requirement: Successful completion of Sophomore level coursework or above by May 2024 with a Major in Chemistry/Biochemistry or related Science and Engineering fields, with an interest in Marketing.

  Coursework in Chemistry and Biology curriculum

  Coursework and/or experience in data management tools, e.g. Excel, statistical analysis

  Experience/coursework with Microsoft Office (i.e. Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

  Previous experience/coursework in a laboratory setting, with familiarity with good laboratory hygiene and safety practices

  Marketing coursework desirable
