Job Description
IFF is seeking a highly motivated Scent Technology and Innovation Fragrance Technology Manager to join our team. The position will provide new fragrance creations, concepts, and solutions to our Fabric and Home Care technology.
Key focus will be on Fragrance Performance, Stability, and Delivery Systems technical development across multiple formats in Air Care, Cleaners, and Fabric Care to support IFF Global and Regional projects. The outcome of this work will be new products and product / ingredient insights that provide IFF with opportunities for profitable growth.
Job Requirements
Product and Innovation Management
Use creative/innovative skills to develop relevant new concepts and fragrance solutions for the given category or application.
Generate holistic understanding of customers’ bases and technologies including future trends and of customers’ technical needs.
Actively promote IFF tools, innovations and capabilities tailoring them to specific needs of customers. Adapt and strengthen claims and build relevant Value Propositions.
Implement changes to improve current processes to reduce time or cost or increase performance.
Together with creative teams and sales team, actively support the launch of new technologies to customers to enhance speed to market (customer level dependent).
Leadership, Communication, & Teamwork
Lead technical team working on must win/mission critical, strategic, or commercial projects and partner with project teams to troubleshoot fragrance/stability technical challenges.
Foster a collaborative mindset and build a relationship of trust with other fragrance functions (Scent Design Managers, Perfumers, Marketing, Consumer Insights) to enrich and accelerate the creative process.
Advocate and promote your organization vision and mission, proactively working with the team to support needs and priorities.
Motivate and lead your team to overcome challenges and ensure their engagement and commitment to project success.
Required Experience:
BS/MS & a minimum 8 -12 years’ experience or PhD & 3-4 years’ experience in the fragrance (preferred) and/or industrial chemical, cosmetic, and consumer goods industry
Knowledgeable in lab safety, relevant application, raw materials, & chemical processes
Can manage and lead large technical projects & teams without direct supervision.
Experience presenting to internal & external customers.
3 - 6 years’ experience actively managing projects/teams and direct reports
Proven record of managing innovation projects
10-20% domestic travel
