Microsoft Research Core is a new organization that consists of five worldwide laboratories, with a mission to advance the state of the art in computing and create positive impact for society.
As a Technical Assistant / Principal Program Manager, you will report to and work closely with the Corporate Vice President (CVP) of MSR Core, and lead a variety of initiatives that assist in the organizational transition. You will work across the organization, with existing support teams, to drive operational efficiencies, technical strategy, and process to improve the output of the organization.

Responsibilities
Working with, and reporting to, the CVP of MSR Core and other leaders to define and execute the strategic objectives of the organization.
Partnering closely with existing teams, covering finance, communications, outreach programs, internal funding programs, our business management teams, and our technical teams, to align them with the technical objectiveswe’ve set.
Taking strategic objectives and turning them into actionable plans, leveraging existing teams to implement them with a well-defined strategy.
Designing technical teams to drive organizational technical strategy, and fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration.
Driving cultural consistency across the organization, and promoting a positive, high-energy, and inclusive work environment that achieves our technical objectives.
Defining a rhythm of the business that achieves the organizational objectives, and ensuring clear and timely communication across the organization.
Drives cross-team projects as needed to meet the changing business environment and to manage complex business needs. Leads project/program management to ensure organization-wide implementation of strategic efforts that require hands-on coordination across multiple disciplines and business organizations.
Drives team culture and health for the leader by getting a pulse on organizational health, as well as leading culture initiatives (e.g., Diversity and Inclusion [D&I], hiring, onboarding) while partnering with Human Resources to do so, for the projects being managed by the role.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree AND 6+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development
OR equivalent experience.
3+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
Preferred Qualifications
10+ years of experience in program management, preferably in a research environment.
Effectivewritten and verbal communication skills, and the ability to assist the CVP of MSR Core with writing strategic documents.
Demonstratedcollaboration and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
A self-starter attitude, and the ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects and tasks.
Exposure to product groups and execution excellence, and the ability to translate research outcomes into business impact.
Experience with the Microsoft culture and corporate structure, and the ability to navigate complex and dynamic environments.
Diverse experiences and perspectives, and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Technical Program Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $133,600 - $256,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $173,200 - $282,200 per year.
