The Essex County Schools of Technology is seeking a 10-month Teacher of Engineering/Robotics at Payne Tech for the 2023-24 school year. Position Purpose Under the School Principal's supervision, the Engineering and Robotics Teacher develops students' skills in engineering and robotics, emphasizing scientific methods, problem-solving, and practical applications. Qualifications: Valid New Jersey Teaching Certificate or Certificate of Eligibility Demonstrated knowledge of subject specialty and effective teaching methods Ability to maintain a positive learning environment Strong interpersonal and communication skills Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status Must be resident of New Jersey or attain residency within one year unless exempted under the law Performance Responsibilities: Teaches pupils to use computers and computer systems (including hardware and software) to program, write software, set up functions, enter data, or process information. Evaluate designs or specifications to ensure quality and interpret design or operational test results. Teaches the programming of robotic equipment. Test performance of electrical, electronic, mechanical, or integrated systems or equipment. Demonstrates knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services. Demonstrates knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance. Plans and develops instructional plans, lessons, experiments, and other support activities to present approved engineering curriculum and embeds all material recommended by district. Maintains accurate records, tests, reports, etc. as required by DOE to demonstrate student performance. Analyzes and uses student performance data to inform instruction. Develops lesson plans and instructional materials for subject area, and translates lesson plans into learning experiences to develop pertinent sequential assignments, challenge students, and best utilize the available time for instruction. Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and progress, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student's needs, including students with special needs; conducts individual and small group instruction as needed. Maintains familiarity with district and NJ State standardized tests for the purpose of adapting curriculum to maximize student achievement on such tests.
