Statement of Position
The primary responsibility of this position is to support the Tax Manager in fulfilling the organization’s compliance with all tax-related reporting requirements of federal, state, and local jurisdictions. We are looking for an optimistic person who will bring their willingness to learn as well as share their innovative ideas with the team. The role requires the ability to multi-task, communicate, collaborate and thrive within a deadline-driven environment.
The Tax Specialist responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Accurate and timely preparation of select Federal related processes (e.g., tax depreciation).
• Assist with the compilation and processing of premium tax returns, premium tax accruals, and certain state income tax estimates.
• Assist in gathering data requirements for all aspects of informational tax filings (e.g., 1099, W-2, 5498) and assist with filing reconciliations (e.g., IRS forms 941, 945).
• Research and draft response for notices and inquiries from taxing authorities, vendors and other internal departments.
• Accurate and timely tracking, remitting, and/or filing of guaranty fund assessments.
• Responsible for municipal tax and sales & use tax filings.
• Prepare tax account reconciliation on a periodic basis.
• Perform other tasks as needed.
Qualifications & Knowledge Requirements
Education: Associate’s Degree in accounting required. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
Experience: Minimum 1+ years of corporate tax experience required.
Knowledge Requirements:
• Entry level knowledge of tax and accounting processes and procedures
• Strong communication and organizational skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to context, substance and detail
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively under pressure and within a collaborative team oriented environment
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (i.e., Excel) and the ability to learn to new software.
This position is based in Canton, MA. We are onsite Monday-Thursday with Friday as a remote day.
