About Finland
Our Finland locations include Vantaa and Joensuu, employing over 800 professionals supporting functions such as production, instrument and reagent manufacturing, R&D, marketing, sales, quality, administrative support and supply chain. We hire experts in different fields including engineering, chemistry, microbiology and bioinformatics. Our Vantaa site develops pipettes and microplate instruments as well as clinical chemistry and industrial chemistry analyzers, laboratory automation solutions and food safety kits. Discover impactful work:
You will be the technical lead in defining and developing hand-held and benchtop liquid handling instruments. In leading systems definition & integration aspects of product development, you will collaborate with deeply knowledgeable engineers, scientists, UI/UX designers, and business professionals to develop world-class products for both research and IVD markets.
A day in the life:
Drive complex instrument development projects to completion while meeting cost, schedule and performance requirements
Collaborate with product management, mechanical engineering, electronics design, software developers, UI/UX experts, and system verification to commercialize products
Ensure that decisions are data-driven, by designing experiments, analyzing data, and presenting results in a clear and concise manner
Plan, develop, model, and analyze designs for system integration in order to maintain requirement traceability through various subsystems and verification activities
Facilitate trade-offs among the different technical teams to deliver optimized product performance
Implement and own data analysis and problem-solving activities during system integration and system characterization phases
Keys to success:
Education
Bachelor’s or graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical fieldExperience
5+ years of hands-on experience in developing instrumentation (subsystems, systems, testing and validation)
Consistent track record of delivering successful products with a detailed understanding of quality systems
Familiarity with commercial laboratory equipment for diagnostics and research use is a plus
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Ability to grasp and translate customer workflow needs into product requirements
Ability to facilitate design of experiment (DOE), root cause analysis (RCA), failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA)
Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to efficiently evaluate, prioritize and deal with multiple programs/projects
A great teammate with demonstrated ability to: encourage and influence teams while ensuring timely delivery of projects; manage multiple collaborators; effectively build and cultivate internal and external contacts at senior levels
Demonstrated success working in a global matrixed, multi-functional environment & willingness to travel up to 10%, domestically or internationally
